fascinating programme about Albinism on Channel 4 right now, featuring Afro-Caribbean, English and Asian (Pakistani) Albino families, and the prejudice and harassment (ie racism) they experience from all quarters (including their own ethnic groups) because of it.

C4 have a +1 channel too, so if interested look for it at about half eight

When I was travelling around Africa, whenever we went to a village out in the sticks, they would spot us and hustle out their M'zungu, which was always an Albino and demand money for his or her welfare. Sadly this form of exploitation has been replaced by another where Mutti Witch doctors sell human albino body parts as lucky charms. It makes being an albino in the African countryside very hazardous. They use the term M'zungu as an insult when dealing with white people.
I've no idea why I'm sharing this, you must have stirred some dormant memories.

Thanks for sharing Tweedy - and for reminding me of the thread!

I wanted to use it to observe how judging someone by their skin colour is rife in every ethnic group in the UK. Looks like it finds a correlation overseas too according to your story.
