Sanity -> Harry Reid's Bold Faced Lie (10/2/2008 11:09:32 AM)

quote:

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., pressed for passage, with the alarming news that one of the country's premier insurance companies was about to go bankrupt if the crisis was not quickly resolved.

"We don't have a lot of leeway on time," Reid told reporters in the Capitol. "One of the individuals in the caucus today talked about a major insurance company -- a major insurance company -- one with a name that everyone knows that's on the verge of going bankrupt. That's what this is all about."

He did not identify the insurance company, and later in the day Reid spokesman Jim Manley said the senator was speaking broadly and not referring to anything specific.

Sen Reid is a bonehead...just like Pelosi, Dodd, Franks, I could go on!

I wouldn't be so quick to put down Pelosi, Dodd, Frank (no "s", BTW) and the rest. If it weren't for them, the GOP would have passed a three page bill that gave away $700 billion... with no oversight ... to one corrupt Bush apointee. In case it hasn't hit you yet, Bush and the rest of his minions were attempting to empty the US treasury on the way out the door... Using the exact same fear tactic that they used to invade the wrong country, to pass PATRIOT I & II, and hire Halliburton without the proper bidding process.

Remember this, and your life will be easier: The GOP is flat out, piss in your bed when you are not looking, evil.

Its funny that just yesterday it was stated that more republicans went against their party to vote against the bill.  Apparently you missed the fact that it was stopped by REPUBLICANS.  I put it in caps so you won't have to squint to see it.

Democrats voted for all of those things as well. And they are just as evil as the repubs, there is no real difference anymore. Its not like this package they passed has even a smidgen of oversight that is meaningful. Pelosi, Dodd, Frank, they have all been involved in the de-regulations of invenstment firms just like republicans. Frank got his bf a seat on one of the "oversight" boards. Dodd recieved millions from investment and banking pacs. Pelosi...don't even get me started. The whole place is a pit of vipers, some just with different stripes, but all the same.
