ORIGINAL: LadyEllen 12 month driving ban and some community service. That'll teach him! Cant see anyone taking risks over drink driving and having no insurance again with that sort of punishment awaiting! Makes one wonder why he bothered fleeing the scene. Makes one wonder what one has to do to warrant a serious penalty these days - which reminds me of the two guys who; Kidnapped two underage girls Raped them Assaulted them (beating but also electric shocks and scalding water) Prostituted them Made threats to kill them and their families ....... and got six years each. Reduced to three for "good behaviour" and likely reduced by another year as they'd been on remand awaiting trial. E I was scrolling down these replies to see if you had given the answer, for I was going to say 'community service', which is another way of the judiciary saying, ' oh the prisons are full, only a bit of room left for people who have done more serious crimes, like tax evasion, embezzelment and any other crime that eats into the security of the funds of the wealthy, oh, and we can't be bothered anyway as we don't live there.' Yeah, why is it in this country that crimes involving money command a higher sentence than crimes against people ? I know of a trial of two brothers at crown court for two counts of attempted murder each, they pleaded guilty, and got community service. They were laughing so hard when they left the court, they happened upon one of the witnesses who had flown in from Spain to give evidence, an elderley gentleman. Anyway there was an exchange of words and the elderley gentleman had a heart attack and died on the court steps. The brothers went on to commit further crimes against other people. As you can perhaps guess, I have zero faith in UK justice, nor those that have anything to do with it.
