MzMia -> Chris Matthews Blames Bailout Failure on McCain's leadership! (9/29/2008 2:55:19 PM)

Okay, I have read and heard many interesting points of view today.
I had to peek at one of my favorite websites, Crooks and Liars.com, to
see who they think are the main crooks and liars today.  .

Chris Matthews stated at 2:15 pm today that the bailout failed because McCain's
leadership failed!
Chris states that old John promised to deliver the House Republicans votes,

but could not even get the votes of his own party.
Damn John, that is cold blooded.

Funny thing,Republicans feel a speech Nancy Pelosi gave in the senate well was the cause for Republicans jumping ship.Barney Franks in response asks for the names of the 12 Republicans and states he will go whisper sweet nothings in their ears if that will get them on board......question did not the Republican Candidate claim Country First as his mantra.....someone needs to talk to these 12 Republicans who have had their feelings hurt.

Glad you mentioned that mike, I started to start a thread on that first.

McCain is a loose cannon.  Kinda reminds me of George W., can't get people to follow him.

...I doubt he'll be much more effective as a President.  He doesn't know how to lead, inspire, and reach compromise.

I wouldn't sweat it chickpea, the chance of McCain as President grows dimmer by the day.

It appears McCain warned of this financial trouble back in 2006.

Musicmystery -> RE: Chris Matthews Blames Bailout Failure on McCain's leadership! (9/29/2008 6:43:37 PM)

It also appears, according to this video from "fair and balanced," that a Republican President with a Republican Congress had no will to solve the problems they supposedly saw since 2001.

OH---and perhaps you noticed that McCain has nothing to do with it.

Shocking!  Chris Matthews, who got chills up his legs listening to Obama, blames McCain for the defeat of a Bill to rescue the banking system.  Who would libs expect him to blame?  .... Keith Olbermann?  Come on people...you can do better than that... Chris can only do one thing at a time and I guess he has not had a chance to add up the 100 democrats who voted AGAINST Pelosi's leadership on this Bill.  She only needed 13 of HER people to have the legislation pass.

The democrats are the majority party. How in the world can you blame McCain for not producing 12 more votes when 93 democrats refused to vote for this bill. There are 235 democrats in the House. It  would only take 217 to pass this. They don't even need the republicans..

Musicmystery -> RE: Chris Matthews Blames Bailout Failure on McCain's leadership! (9/29/2008 7:05:26 PM)

See, this is how democracy works.

Telling people how to vote is a dictatorship.

Most of the honourless, cowardly Republicans I've been hearing on the airwaves for the past few weeks have the politics of ants - without the pride. Today was a pinnacle of the most embarrassing political mudslinging I have ever witnessed in my entire life. Shameless bastards, all [:'(] .

Let me see if I got this straight. The Democrats, for the good of the country, were supposed to en masse vote yay for his bitter pill legislation.
While allowing the Republican members to vote nay ,to a bill called for by a Republican President, thereby they can go home and tell their angry constituants that it all the Democrats fault.....yep sounds like a plan, let me guess you guys are secret operatives of the Republican party?

servantforuse -> RE: Chris Matthews Blames Bailout Failure on McCain's leadership! (9/29/2008 7:12:17 PM)

Maybe someone should tell Chris Mathews how it works. I guess he thinks the minority party is responsible when they can't even bring it up for a vote...

It is sad that Republicans are even trying to SPIN this, mike.
lol
I love it, vote against the bill and still blame the Democrats.

You do recall the President and congressional leaders of both partys declaring this bill was going to be passed in a show of bipartisan cooperation...do you not?Bi-partisan means both partys are going to work together to pass a particular bill, usually something politically messy but necessary.Neither party was going to do this alone,no matter who has the majority,in the name of political cover neither side can afford to be solely tarred with this brush
Hence the gentlemans agreement that each party would deliver half their members...the Democrats covered their pledge.House Republicans balked...and than claimed a speech given by Pelosi was the reason....bullshit.

"Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder".....Your emotions reflect the filter of your political viewpoint.  Other, like me, saw Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House, leader of her party in the House of Representatives, showed her lack of political class by taking the opportunity prior to the vote, to "bash Bush" and the republicalsn, "excecpt for a few she said, for all the ills of mankind.  That was not "mudslinging".?  Wake up, and start thinking about what is right for yourselves, and not the democrat party. Wake up and ask what is right for your country, and not the democrat party...and republicans should do the same.  We have a super-partisan, dysfunctional Congress with almost a hat sized popularity...and legions of idiots on both sides following their party affiliation blindly.

If we don't start on the road to getting a plan...at this point even a Disneland plan, on the table and legislated into law, confidence in the american financial system will crumble, and people will be losing their ability to borrow on credit cards since banks will be forced by financial restraint to cut back on credit lines, forget about financing a car or buying a home unless you have a large down payment, and possibly forget about getting a paycheck if you company can't get financing to run their operation.  It's not "politics" that makes this country great..it's capitalism, it's economics, it's the productive capacity of the American worker.

Being "full of sound and fury, but not much else"..is not a solution.

LaTigresse -> RE: Chris Matthews Blames Bailout Failure on McCain's leadership! (9/30/2008 4:14:40 AM)

It is unfortunate that we have a lame duck president in office and an equally lame republican party candidate to follow him. The only thing that warms my cold black heart is that many of their supporters lost their asses yesterday.

Not to mention the fact that McCain will never be president of the United States. Palin can go back to moose hunting and ripping off the people of Alaska. McCain can go whimper in a corner and help his wife figure out how much money they've lost in this mess.

mefisto69 -> RE: Chris Matthews Blames Bailout Failure on McCain's leadership! (9/30/2008 4:15:10 AM)

it's getting too comical..... McCain had tv adds prepped yesterday to blame the loss on Obama...... everybody mudslinging. the reality is, citizens are angry and frightened and have been calling and threatening these fucktard politicians.... that's the sole reason for the veto.
