Several members of the family keep a mini air compressor that runs on the cigarette lighter, but if the tire loses the seal, those are worthless (unless you are really good with the wd-40 trick).

Yeah, but generally if you've knocked the tire off the bead, it's got some other damage that makes it a poor candidate for re-use...    Unless you're deliberately running it way under-pressure for mudding or something, in which case you should have some kind of plan... I thought a lot of guys just carried an air tank nowadays (takes a lot more pressure/volume than a little cigarette-lighter compressor can generate, with that and a few tricks you can usually re-seat)

I've got a basic toolkit (SAE and metric sockets, wrenches, Torx, variety of screwdrives, pliers), wire cutters/crimpers, test lamp, electrical tape, duct tape, couple sizes of hose clamps, a coil of 14ga primary wire, spare fuses, a wire hanger, quart of oil, a good flashlight, ratchet straps, rope, jumper cables, a couple flares... And AAA. That's in my daily driver (pickup). The older cars have more, the bikes have a little less.

And I'll take a scissors jack any day of the week over a bumper jack! I miss the worm-drive jack that came with my old Chevy K-20, tho... shoulda kept that.

AAA+ membership. And, if I'm on a cross country road trip, a disposable cell.

What do you have in your trunk/boot when your broke down that saves you time and energy????

A trunk monkey.  He really sucks at actually changing the tire, but he's entertaining.
