That is a spurious argument when you consider no medical professional is forced to do harm in an execution. Don't they have some magic computerised button system so that no one knows who the actual executioner is? You don't need to be a medical professional to press a button the last time I checked. Confirming death isn't the same as causing death and I would be shocked if any medical professionals were involved in the execution process. If they are then I'd take a dim view of them using the title medical professional.

No there is no "magic computerised button system" to place needles in the veins of a condemned prisoner.  It has to be manually done, and it's a doctor, nurse, paramedic, or EMT that does it (medical professional).  I don't know who presses the button; it varies in every state.  Confirming death is part of the process.  If they're not dead, they zap again.  You do understand that, don't you?

Why even compare abortion to executions when in most cases you are talking about a cluster of cells which has no more than life potential? If people are going to moan about abortion they should also moan about IVF, is it fair to freeze a human so that he can emerge in the future like Buck Rodgers? So many questions so little time.

I'm not comparing abortions to executions.  I'm simply mentioning another situation involving medical professionals where moral issues are at play.  I would never agree with forcing someone to participate in an execution or lose their job for refusing to participate in one.  I feel the same way about trying to force someone to participate in any activity they have a moral opposition to.

What statistics could possibly exist that might stretch the definition of abortion to include birth control?

I don't know where you get your info but you're wrong.

First off medical professionals do not insert the needles for lethal injections. The prison guards usually do it and in a few places orderlies from the prison clinic do it. But nurses and doctors never do so.

In every state the executioner's identity is kept secret to protect him but it is a simple press of a button or pull of a lever everywhere.

A doctor is present to confirm death but is otherwise uninvolved. In every state a doctor or nurse would lose their license if they participated beyond verifying death.

Why should they be forced to do that?  How many people have you met that don't know abortion is an option for an unwanted pregnancy?  Do you really know anyone that damn ignorant?  How many people can't look in the yellow pages and find the local abortion clinic or a group like Planned Parenthood?

It doesnt matter what we "assume" that others know or do not know.  I am sure many do not know the ins and outs of what happens when one gets an abortion.  ESPECIALLY when it concerns teens.  Its not about looking in a phone book, its about a doctor telling you that it is an option, and if you have questions they are there to answer them...  That is their JOB.  When it pertains to medical information, it is their job to give it to you.  If a doctor does not want to perform an abortion, than fine, it is still his/her duty to inform the patient of the options, and answer questions.  With this bill no option would be given, and no questions would be answered.  There would be no reliable information available to the person, instead they would have to shop around like they were buying a new car.  This takes time, increasing the gestation period of the fetus, which also raises the cost of the abortion.  Not to meantion the fact that there are no planed parenthoods in some states.  Alabama is one of them... How do I know?  Because thats where I lived when I got my abortion.  I had to really really look for one of the TWO abortion clinics in the entire state.  Neither was planned parenthood.  They werent even in my city, I had to drive over 200 miles one way just to get to the one I went to, and that was the closest one to me.  Abortion clinics are not always around the corner and are not always easy to find.  Alabama has the largest group of  Army Of God members, you know, the ones who kill doctors and blow up abortion clinics???  When I went to my appointment there were actual off duty cops guarding the clinic and pushing all the stupid protesters back off of the property.  We couldnt bring anything inside the building except our car keys, method of payment, and ID.  THATS IT.  Oh, and they werent in the phone book, if I hadnt of had the internet I wouldnt have found them.  So its not about ignorance, its about the means to aquire the information.
