~FR It always did amaze me how people are blind to what happens in puppy mills. I worked for an animal hospital near LAncaster, PA. I can't tell you how sick and ill bred pups we saw, whose owners were flabbergasted. "But I bought him from the Amish." Take a closer look at that horse hitched in front of the store, have a look at the bent and worn hooves, the ribs showing, the poor haircoat. To the Amish, and puppy mill breeders in general, animals are nothing more than a paycheck or a labor saving device. I wish people would stop insiting on "pure bred" dogs, no matter the source. I encourage folks to look for a breed specific rescue, if you're so intent on pure blood. Or you could go to the pound and get a mutt instead of one of these designer "breeds" such as a puggle, chi-poo, schnoodle, goldendoodle, etc. etc. Save yourself $1000.
