and I was wishing someone would have picked Chuck Hagel to be in this race, He has more qualifications than Palin in leaps and bounds, though I seriously doubt he would accept the job ....

Respected? By who? The media maybe but you go onto any Republican blog sites and mention Hagel's name and they will flame you.

You know how Lieberman is viewed in the Democratic party today? That's how Republicans have felt about Hagel for years.

Wow, that must be why his colleagues in the Senate GOP caucus elected him to be deputy whip, Which is course junior only to the whip and the minority leader in the party hierarchy.

Or maybe the caucus expressed their displeasure by leaving him on the foreign relations, banking, intelligence and rules committees. Serving on those high profile committees able to influence foreign and domestic policy really shows teh caucus holds him in contempt.

Or maybe this is another example of the neocons and their water carriers turning on anyone who dares question anything.

Hagel is one of the rare capable people in politics; I frequently wonder how he ended up there.

However, I wholly agree with his assessment of Palin.  The thought of her running the country (into the ground, most likely) is a worrisome one.

Though I suppose I should thank McCain; picking Palin means that now deciding whom I am voting for is several degrees easier.

The same reason Spector is high up in the Senate, to keep him from flipping.
