http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080918/ap_on_el_pr/hagel_palin

Well, it's about time someone stood up in the GOP to that dam "I can see Russia from my State" comment

meatcleaver -> RE: Looks like there are cracks within the GOP (9/18/2008 8:05:05 AM)

Hagel took issue with that argument. "I think they ought to be just honest about it and stop the nonsense about, 'I look out my window and I see Russia and so therefore I know something about Russia,'" he said. "That kind of thing is insulting to the American people."

It is about time a Republican got a backbone and told the truth about Palin.

Join us... Joooiiinnn UUUsssss.... Get behind Palin, even though no one knows a thing about her.... join us.....  (walking like a zombie)

It's reassuring that some Republicans can think for themselves- hopefully Hagel just got the ball rolling.

as an independent voter i am not going to get in line and follow behind Obama either.  what i know about him, i do not like.

the more i hear from both the reps & dems, voting 3rd party looks better & better

Being able to view a neighboring country but not having direct interaction with the leaders of that country does not equal experience.

popeye1250 -> RE: Looks like there are cracks within the GOP (9/18/2008 10:23:38 AM)

That's one of the problems with Washington, D.C.
There's too many people with too much "experience."

subtee -> RE: Looks like there are cracks within the GOP (9/18/2008 10:28:32 AM)

Rove criticized McCain! That's a big-ass crack. Hahahaha

Vendaval -> RE: Looks like there are cracks within the GOP (9/18/2008 10:29:16 AM)

I do not think that too much experience is too blame, rather a sense of complacency and entitlement combined with a lack of accountability and consequences for stupidity, fraud or mismanagement.

Would you not want your doctor and accountant to have experience?  How about the mechanics who work on your car or the plumbers and electricians who worked with the contractor who built your home?

NuminousLeader -> RE: Looks like there are cracks within the GOP (9/18/2008 11:39:59 AM)

Well first time poster, long time reader.

Seems to me, we lost all sense of truth in politics some time ago.  There are faults with both sides, yet neither is wiling to admit to mistakes they both have made.

Jeez, just a little honest talk would be nice, but it seems they have learned that being honest does not pay off

subtee -> RE: Looks like there are cracks within the GOP (9/18/2008 11:47:27 AM)

Welcome and great first post! I think it's likely most of us would agree with you.

Hippiekinkster -> RE: Looks like there are cracks within the GOP (9/18/2008 12:33:16 PM)

There's no way she can look out her window in Wasilla and see Russia anyway. That's just a flat-out lie.

slvemike4u -> RE: Looks like there are cracks within the GOP (9/18/2008 12:42:54 PM)

As I watched the Republican Convention I couldn't help but wonder just how may of these Republican spinmeisters would like to stand McCain against a wall as they tried to defend the indefensible selection. After "you can see Russia from Alaska comment I am sure the numbers are swelling...McCain has made a worse pick than Eageton, didn't think that was possible but he done it!!!!!

cyberdude611 -> RE: Looks like there are cracks within the GOP (9/18/2008 12:57:06 PM)

Hagel is considered a nut in the Republican party...no one is listening to him. He's like the crazy uncle in the room. He is what Republicans call him the biggest "RINO" there is. RINO = Republican In Name Only.

kittinSol -> RE: Looks like there are cracks within the GOP (9/18/2008 1:03:21 PM)

Fascinating how quickly the GOP dismisses its internal dissenters as 'nutters', isn't it?

slvemike4u -> RE: Looks like there are cracks within the GOP (9/18/2008 1:07:33 PM)

What do you think people in Ohio, Colorado, Nevada, and Pennsylvania are going to care more about
That he is honestly addressing this VP candidates unfittness for office or that some Republicans refer to him as a RINO...just asking?

housesub4you -> RE: Looks like there are cracks within the GOP (9/18/2008 1:07:50 PM)

Well, they are known for a well oiled machined

They do support each other minus the facts

bipolarber -> RE: Looks like there are cracks within the GOP (9/18/2008 1:09:37 PM)

Yeah, these days, anyone coming close to being "moderate" is tarred and feathered it seems. Yet, this is the only reason McCain is doing as well as he is... he's great at faking a moderate stance in public, but being a typical greedy republican asshole once he's in an office... and with a temper to boot.
