I don't know, does wearing your parrot on your head most of the day count as a pirate type activity?
 
Grins, i wear my parrot FreeBird (one of many presents from Jewel to me) on my head everyday, because she likes it there. And i have this saying, it is simply impossible to be unhappy with a parrot on your head. Especially when she slides down your hair to give you kisses. It is silly, charming and absolutely irresistible.
 
Though she is a miniature parrot, the worlds smallest kind of parrot known as a parrotlet. I imagine if you tried it with a full size parrot you might feel differently about it, lol.

I've been making all the telemarketers who call me here at work say "Rrr" for "talk like a pirate" day. My co-workers been laughing her ass off non stop.
