ORIGINAL: cyberdude611 She quoted Reagan, "I didnt leave the Democratic party, the Democratic party left me." Trueer words were never said. Most of my family were FDR democrats in those days...I would guess about two-thirds or more were JFK democrats. And than the democrat party started to be impacted by the powerful left wing who controlled the nomination process, and our party lost every general election until Bill Clinton. And Bill Clinton won with only a minority vote, benefitting when Ross Perot came into the race as a spoiler and got about 17% of the vote. A strong economy that benefitted greatly from the restructuring of American industry in the 1980's with massive downsizing, re-elected Bill Clinton....and than another turn to the left by Gore who was almost carried in by the strength of the 1990's, with a very sharp turn with Kerry and now the ultimate leftist, a radical button man from the Chicago machine. My best guess is that possibly 10% of my family are now democratsand mostly the younger one's in school. We are now getting down to the nitty gritty of finding out who is the fellow Barack Obama...Is John McCain up to the job? By the time we get to November and THE vote of our lifetimes the younger ones will probably mostly change their minds, or be "disowned"...:)
