Owner59 -> Bob Barr wins spot in Pennsylvania ballot (9/16/2008 7:01:16 PM)

He`s tracking anywhere from 2 to 3 1/2 points, nationally.

In Pennsylvania(a swing state),who knows how high his support can get?

The Palin affect might even make Barr`s numbers increase.

In a tight race,1 or 2 % points is all it takes to win,....or loose.

Go Bob go![:D]

Barr is a joke.  Other than ego, like old Ralph Nader, there is no reason for him to be in the race.He will probably get some votes from people who would not have voted, would not have voted for McCain or Obama, and have very little impact on the outcome.

Tell those people their vote doesn't count, sit back, and take in their reaction: something tells me they won't be impressed.

Too bad Cynthia McKinney isn't as likely to draw off any of the left's support.
I've still planning to vote for Barr myself, not that I believe he's the best or would even make a really good president.
Simply a vote of principle, the more votes the Libertarian Party gets the more influence they can have at a future date.

But then again I'm in a state that is basicly a "safe" state. If I were in a battleground state I might have to really think hard about what to do.
I understand the basics of the electoral college, not too many Libertarians don't understand it.

That Cynthia sure knows how to ask about the missing 2.3 trillion dollars.

And how to assault police officers because they don't recognize her without her ID.

+1

The LP usually manages to get on the ballot in most states, I think between 45-50 in the past few Presidential elections. What we need is a good high-profile Congressional race... If Paul switched to the LP for his next House race, it would be a nice boost.

Well it's not like Barr supporters where ever going to vote intelligently, so this is a big plus for us.  The state is in play and taking 2-3% away from McGoofus should help us lock down the state.

Barr is a joke?
What not wanting Obama or McCain and getting a better option at the polls is a joke?

It's his right to run just as it is my right to vote for him. Some of us are tired of the way the country is run (by both parties) and we are tired of people going around saying "vote for the lesser of the two evils". It doesn't make good sense to some of us.

Remember: Political worship only works for mindless sheep and I for one can think for myself. But thanks for the commentary.

(Actually, Barr is a joke. It's anyone's prerogative to give him their support, doesn't stop him from being ridiculous.)

Thadius -> RE: Bob Barr wins spot in Pennsylvania ballot (9/17/2008 9:23:49 AM)

He would have had a decent chance of getting into the national debates and on more ballots if Ron Paul had accepted the offer made a little over a week ago.  Barr and the LP offered to let Paul take the second seat on the ticket, to unify their message and to possibly bring about a much stronger message and following.

As it stands right now, the polling I have seen that includes Barr and other candidates doesn't affect any of the big ticket numbers (meaning he isn't changing the race one way or the other).

Vendaval -> RE: Bob Barr wins spot in Pennsylvania ballot (9/17/2008 11:19:27 AM)

I keep meeting Libertarians running loose in these parts.  Wonder what the connection is to kinky people.  [8D]

SilverMark -> RE: Bob Barr wins spot in Pennsylvania ballot (9/17/2008 1:14:20 PM)

LMAO! Cynthia McKinney....Perhaps she and Bob should hook-up?....Better yet, Cynthia, Bob and Newt in a 3-some!...We Georgian's certainly know how to elect 'em!....
"John Gotti was a community organizer, Clinton was a Governor" <----------really goofy corey.....but then again...you never surprise Me.....With all the rest of your opinions you should love Bob Barr, you are only afraid he might ding Old Johnny Mac in a few states....
Aside from his more extreme views Bob Barr is a decent guy...would never vote for him<and he was my congressman for a time> but, met him a few times in social settings and thought highly of him.

JstAnotherSub -> RE: Bob Barr wins spot in Pennsylvania ballot (9/17/2008 4:00:32 PM)

they said on the news earlier that barr is filing to have obama and mccain taken off the texas ballots, stating they missed the deadline to be on there......

as for eye of newt, mouth of mckinney, and shifty eyes of barr.....

This should be an interesting thing to follow.  It is supposed to be heard Thursday by the Texas Supreme Court.

People not voting intelligently is a plus for y'all? Proud statement.

cyberdude611 -> RE: Bob Barr wins spot in Pennsylvania ballot (9/17/2008 5:44:57 PM)

Who knows.... Ron Paul claims he had twice as many Democrats supporting him than Republicans. Many think it is because his anti-war views are stronger than either the GOP or Democrat positions.

Also Ralph Nader got on the ballot in Colorado and he's polling 3% right now. That could be critical.

It's too early to tell if any of these guys will have any effect. No one thought they would matter in 2000 but they did. Everyone thought they would matter in 2004 but they did not. So who knows this time around.
