Still this seems kind of harsh; "If convicted, she could face up to six years in prison and a $10,000 fine." Maybe she is trying to regress back to the time before her life jumped the tracks. Some psychologists try to do this with patients with personality disorders; the theory is that they missed some important lesson that we are all supposed to learn at a particular age, so they try and send them back (symbolically, though) to see if they can pick it up the second time around.
