check her sign...no stick.   with things as silly as they are, I am glad I did not go see Bill Clinton speak at Bucknell.

All these players sure are nitpciky!

KatyLied -> RE: Librarian kicked out of McCain 'town hall" (9/14/2008 3:10:12 PM)

Palin doesn't like libarians.  Oh, wait, it's books that she doesn't like.

pahunkboy -> RE: Librarian kicked out of McCain 'town hall" (9/14/2008 3:13:22 PM)

this is dated in July- before Palin showed up on sceen.

how is it she gets a fine for "treaspassing" ??  I wonder what the amount of the fine was.

Note- if it seems like I am picking on GOP here...no..when the candidate  is too big this happens.

pahunkboy -> RE: Librarian kicked out of McCain 'town hall" (9/14/2008 3:15:10 PM)

I dont care for librarians.   Not in the past 10 years.

I checked out a book last week..and it seemed to draw attention.    At least I can read what I want online...

bipolarber -> RE: Librarian kicked out of McCain 'town hall" (9/14/2008 3:29:11 PM)

True, Pahunkboy... and it's so much easier for the government to track what you are reading online, thanks to PATRIOT II....

Yes, it does seem that McCain's campaign has this "thing" against librarians, doesn't it?

subtee -> RE: Librarian kicked out of McCain 'town hall" (9/14/2008 3:41:15 PM)

This is a very ugly scene.

Oh and who could forget this apology...

Barack Obama’s campaign apologised today to two Muslim women who were moved from behind the podium at a rally in Detroit earlier this week because volunteers wanted to prevent headscarves appearing in photographs and TV shots.

She was belligerent. The McCain lady was just standing there with a sign.

[Emphasis added.]
Forgot this part: A spokesman said the decision was “offensive and counter” to Mr Obama’s “commitment to bring Americans together”.

I would become upset and outspoken as well, if I were a delegate, had the meeting location hidden from me because I supported the other candidate, and then was escorted out.

I do agree with you about the sign lady, however, I am a bit cynical about why and how the entire thing was filmed... It seemed rather well staged, to get the most out of the protest.  Again, it was not the McCain campaign that escorted the woman out or that asked for her to be escorted out.

As for the apology, it was demanded.  You should have heard the outrage here in Michigan, when the story came to light.  I am not laying it at the feet of Obama, just suggesting that things happen that are spun by everybody.

kittinSol -> RE: Librarian kicked out of McCain 'town hall" (9/14/2008 4:16:31 PM)

The blood runs cold: so much for free speech. So, does free speech only apply as long as it's to agree with the party in power?

And what's wrong with 'McCain = Bush'? She is right! You'd think the Republicans wouldn't object to a truism. Or would they?

It's fucking shameful [>:] .

1.  She was asked to leave by the Secret Service, not the McCain campaign.

2. The Secret Service is responsible for the security of the candidates.

3.  Since the Secret Service asked her to leave, I suspect that there is more information than is apparent in this propaganda piece.

4.  It looks utterly staged to me.

5.  What do you, or anyone know about the "librarian"?

6. How do you know she even is a "librarian"?

7.  She is quite dis-ingenious and dishonest, as is apparent by her comments at the end of video.

8. She would have only gotten a ticket if she refused to leave when first requested, or otherwise made an ass out of herself.

.... more, if you engage your critical thinking facilities, but that's enough for now.

subtee -> RE: Librarian kicked out of McCain 'town hall" (9/14/2008 4:32:50 PM)

Who was the secret service servicing?

In what way does it look staged?

DomKen -> RE: Librarian kicked out of McCain 'town hall" (9/14/2008 4:54:24 PM)

If the secret service wanted her removed it would have nothing to do with whether she had a sign or not. The man in charge clearly said she could stay without the say and with the sign she was ticketed for trespassing. That's a pretty clear first ammendment violation.

popeye1250 -> RE: Librarian kicked out of McCain 'town hall" (9/14/2008 5:01:38 PM)

The Secret Service should have let her in.
She was obviously not a security threat.
I bet McCain would have let her in!
Now that guy in the green banana suit.....

I'm curious what you heard her say that you would classify as "dishonest."  Her comments didn't include anything "dishonest" as far as I could tell and I'm being totally objective here.

I'm again curious.  Why shouldn't she refuse to leave?  It's city property, it's a public event and she's not doing anything threating or disruptive.  If a sign simply saying "McCain = Bush" is considered disruptive enough to have someone thrown out on their ear, that's extremely troubling.  Is the candidate so sensitive he can't bear such a comparison?  I don't care what candidate this lady supports or what her sign says, she is no way was making an "ass" out of herself.  She was quietly standing, holding a sign that had no threatening message on it and was told to get out.  That ought to spook even you[;)]

Isn't it one of the cornerstones of the Obama campaign to attempt to equate McCain to Bush, and therefore taint him in the publics eye?

And we are to believe that she's all innocent and naive (yeah, the "naive granny librarian") that she doesn't understand the impact of that meme at a McCain rally? Why should any McCain supporter be "offended"?

I call Bull Shit.  She knew exactly what she was doing, and exactly how she was trying to taint McCain ... and gives us the "little ole' innocent me?" routine?

Dis-ingenious and dishonest are quite an appropriate description, I'd think.

How do you know any of what you said is even close to the truth?

Is this piece a propaganda piece or not, do you think?

By definition such a partisan piece is designed to sway your emotions in the way that the producers wish.

So ... was it a pro-McCain piece?

Everything in the editing is done for a particular purpose - to get people to think and agree with your stated sentiments.

But you have no proof of anything ... or even if the event actually occurred - and nor do I.

I recognize it for what it is, however, and pointed out just some of the issues in my earlier post.

How do you know she is a "librarian"?

How do you even know it's at a McCain "Townhall"?

ALL you "know" is that there is a video on youtube, that is obviously designed to hurt McCain, and therefore help Obama.  That is the sum total of what we really know about this entire incident, based on the information so far provided.

Doesn't McCain go along with Bush 90% of the time?
Why are those that elected Bush twice, now wanting to distance

themselves from the President THEY elected?
odd

McCain DOES ============ Bush!

Right on to this library for voicing her opinion, shame on the McCain camp for attempting
to silence her!

pahunkboy -> RE: Librarian kicked out of McCain 'town hall" (9/14/2008 6:48:21 PM)

hello-  Firm,

true, I see your point on the PR angle.

....tho I dont know how one can be assessed a fine for this....
it doesnt say much about the outcome

anyone can post stuff on youtube.

the part tho on the new climate that has been around 2000 til now tho is a very different one then when Bill Clinton rather enjoyed the detractors.

then factor in the methods used at the conventions, such as 'free speach zones"...

today one must be QUIET!   thats the way the rulers want it. ask no questions.. make no noise.  be a quiet little citizen.

sorta like the mantra over terrorists..either you are with them or against them... notwithstanding that the way the US treats other people it will use on its own people.

how can anyone like the new climate? I dont.

so this lady refused to be a schill -a prop for the campaign.  maybe if no one showed up they would wish for a disenter.  the way it is going- no one will want to show up.

arent YOU more then a prop??

Bull shit on this as well.

Is/was Bush wrong 100% of the time? How about 50% of the time?

Is Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi right 100% of the time?

You want to play the "numbers game"?

Ok, who has a higher public approval rating, the Republican President, or the Democratic Congress?

According to all polls, the President has a higher approval rating.

So, anyone who is voting with the majority in Congress is more wrong than someone who votes in support of the President's positions.

Obama voted in line with fellow Senate Democrats 97 percent of the time in 2007 and 2005, and 96 percent of the time in 2006.

According to common sense, then, Obama has supported more unpopular positions than McCain,

Go figure.

Oh, and that "Agent of Change" mantle that Obama wants to assume? How the hell can he be an agent of change when he votes with his party more than 95% of the time?

"Change." Yeah. Sure. Interested in a game of three-card monte?

And I have a bridge in Brooklyn for sale, if you are interested. Cheap.

And that "poor little ole lady who the mean republican tried to silence" is selling you something too.

And you've bought it.
