Bah.  My partners father called Sunday to tell him to come and get him since he had no power and couldn't take the heat (and his other old buddies had decided to skedaddle also).  This is most aggravating because we'd pleaded with him for two days last week to come up or let us come get him BEFORE the hurricane.  It's worse hearing him say "Well I didn't know we'd lose power and water"

Yeah because hurricanes don't cause any damage.

Oh well, he's here now and the power came on at his place late last night of course.  We'll probably take him home tomorrow (I had to teach him how to use a cellphone since we don't have a landline, that was fun)

Well, northern Indiana got the left over rain from Ike... we just got the wind. Trees down all over town and from what I hear, all over the place around here. This morning there was somewhere around half a million without power... count us in on that one. No real serious damage to us, a small place on the roof needs to be fixed and my pool is a disaster area. But we have a big ass generator and can power most of the house with it and to my knowledge no one here in town was injured. Yeah, there are a few that no longer have a garage and a few more that have trees laying in their attics. Some of the gusts were reported to be up to 85 mph.

Whoda thought? I have a daughter near Austin and she got NOTHING!! No rain, no wind.... zilch. And we got it all. Geeeeeze.

I am glad to hear folks are doing ok... My heart goes out to those effected by the huricane. Here is a look at what things look like from there.

Just something I learned after all the flooding and tornadoes here this year. Local newspapers and televisions often have great websites with alot of local, up to the minute type, information.

Here is a link I found for Port Aurthur. I am sure with a little investigating you can find more.
