On a more serious note and speaking of book banning.....

One of Frank`s best Crossfire interviews, about censorship.
Very poignant considering the current debate.

What a coincidence, I heard "Don't Eat the Yellow Snow" just yesterday. I miss him too. A few months ago I spent some time going through some of his stuff...there is sooooooo much of it it's mind boggling. Lots of it was never mainstream and wow, I was just blown away by some of it.

Frank Zappa was too good to live in a shitty world like this.

He had these guys like Obama and McCain down pat:

You say yer life's a bum deal
'N yer kinda up against the wall...
Well, people, you ain't even got no
kinda Deal at all

'Cause what they do
In Washington
They just takes care
of NUMBER ONE
An' NUMBER ONE ain't YOU
You ain't even NUMBER TWO

I like Zappa, but all titties and beer is good. Oh...you meant the song, my bad.

First time I heard Zappa was the live at FIllmore East album, I was just a kid and thought this guy is crazy! What lyrics! then
re-listened to the music not trying to laugh at the references to making love in the back of a Gremlin knowing nothing at the ripe old age of 11 but, this guy is hilarious and the music was like nothing I had ever heard. Then heard Bwana Dik and at 11 any dick joke is of course unbelievably funny... I finally really started to listening to the music realized I had been tricked....I think he used the lyrics to get a kid to listen to his music! It worked...Genius! Absolutely a Musical Genius!

"Slime", "Rammit" and "Vampire Beavers" are some of my favorites... It's a dull, rainy day here in Arkansas... time to pull a few albums out and take a trip down memory lane...

I got suspended from school once, for playing one of his albums in shop class while working. (I was horrified at the time, but now, I kinda look at it as evidence I was just way ahead of the curve, musically, than most of the other kids who were playing disco crap at the time.)

Owner59, did you ever go down to the Hard Rock Cafe at the Trump Taj in AC?  I don't know if it's still there, but they used to display a cape that was his that was made up of all the underwear that women had thrown at him while he was onstage.
