Last night I accessed a general dating site by using Bugmenot. That's where to avoid the registration you go to Bugmenot, put in the address and it gives you various usernames and passwords for that site. The first one I used for this dating site worked fine, and I found I'd become a 23 year old handsome stud. I lived in Florida. I had a cool pic and everything.

My Inbox was absolutely chock full of emails from gorgeous babes. I mean hot !! Totally hot !!! While I was on this site I received emails. Every single one was a babe. Hmmm, but some of the profiles to me looked like the same chick, except with different hairstyle and clothes. Suspicious. Then I received an email from one forlorn user, not so much the babe, asking - is this site genuine - anyone out there ? So I wanted to reply and let her know she's just emailed a profile of convenience and the pic was bogus. But I couldn't, messaging was a paid for feature !!

So, my question is this, do dating sites routinely entice users with attractive looking profiles to try and get them to pay up ? What are your experiences ?

I've never heard of such.  A good vanilla site is plentyoffish.com and it's totally free.

Never heard of your site. The one I accessed was called amateurmatch.com or some such.

I do have a profile on a couple dating site. I pretty much use it to meet others for for friendships with benefits and not expecting to find a partner on them. There's only one which I have a paid subscription to and have met some decent people on who I still maintain friendships with. What I do like about that one is the yearly fee is inexpensive and the site owner is a fellow Canadian!

I seem to remember some controversy over dating sites such as match.com and others having fake profiles of really attractive people who just happen to be in your area, to entice people to pay up and join.

Interesting, dated 2005, so they are still doing it. Pfft.

I've been on a several "adult" sites over the years including:
eroticy.com
sexpartynetwork.com
alt.com

Including CM, more than half of the profiles are BS.

Go make a really ugly profile on Eroticy, using their "free" trial.  Tell the world you're a baby-killer and a serial rapist/arsonist.  Don't even bother to post a photo.  Within an hour you'll have a bunch of e-mail from women who just can't wait to fuck your brains out!

On SPN, you must be absolutely politically correct or the one-man-show that runs the place will kick your butt off so fast your browser will ache.

And as for Alt, well... what can I say...

My best advice is to take absolutely everything you see on line with several grains of salt!

Best of luck!

I would suspect any dating site that charges to respond to emails is likely guilty of creating fake profiles.

Except for one intelligent, sexy, fun guy I met from alt the other dating site experiments over the years were a waste of time.
