Not if OPEC goes with what Iran is asking for... At the meeting they are pushing for a lowering of production to bring prices back up.

I doubt it Thadius.

There is a huge glut of oil and OPEC makes no money if people don't buy it.

The Saudis recommended keeping levels where they are... we will find out soon.

Edited for a stray '

Then again, if you bought in 2001, you'd be sitting quite pretty by now.

Indeed...several of mine.

(Last few weeks have not been terribly productive on this front).

However, I spoke to my advisor....and I've decided to invest in guys who stand at exit ramps with containers...I'm hoping to collect large.

Thanks for the update, now I don't look as crazy as my earlier post must have sounded.

I'm filling everything I've got while we're under $3.50/gal, because it ain't gonna last.

I do wonder what the fuck is going on with silver, though... the Fed is printing dough as fast as they can cut down the trees, with epic corporate handouts hitting the papers, and the dollar is UP? Bizarre.

Termyn8or -> RE: Well if you Bought Oil at $147.... (9/9/2008 10:11:26 PM)

OMW, it's just another manipulation. True market forces will come through. Big money is just trying to keep the big money. Silver will be up, might take a year, but it will.

Buy low sell high, simple as that. You just can't bet the farm on it because the payoff might not be right away. You need finacial patience, which I would define as having the resources to keep going on until the payoff comes.

Anyway, the price of oil going down is good news, and when futures holders start jumping off the bandwagon, they will further compound the "problem", which will benefit us at the pump.
