http://www.newsweek.com/id/157986

This woman is standing up to a lot and nothing seems to be sticking. With every attack on her and her family, her ratings climb. Not exactly what the left wants I am sure.

She did not ban any books, she did not cut special needs funding, she's never endorsed Pat Buchanan, she has never been a member of the Alaska Independence Party...

I guess Karl Rove is top blame for all the lefts disinformation.

subtee -> RE: Newsweek Debunks Palin Claims (9/9/2008 6:24:11 PM)

And yet, where there is smoke there is a liar:

ANCHORAGE, Sept. 8 -- Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has billed taxpayers for 312 nights spent in her own home during her first 19 months in office, charging a "per diem" allowance intended to cover meals and incidental expenses while traveling on state business.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/09/08/AR2008090803088_pf.html

There are just too many issues with Palin to continue to champion her, it seems to me. The fault is with both she and McCain; she's obviously a stranger to the truth, his folks obviously didn't vett her well enough.

Wow.almost 17 grand extra, just to stay home.Nice work ,...if you can get it.

How`s that for fiscal conservative,FDD?

It that how it`s defined now a days?

She keeps on saying she was against the "Bridge To Nowhere" at every stop, like a broken record.

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/fact-checker/2008/09/sarah_palin_and_the_bridge_to.html

Only it`s not true.Does that count,FDD?

And on aid to unwed moms.....

Well, that's...helpful, Level.

I really can't believe that anyone could wholeheartedly endorse Sarah Palin even removing those things that have been debunked. There are still mountains of red flags and troubling issues arising every day...and the democrats have succeeded only in making mole hills of them. So far.

TheHeretic -> RE: Newsweek Debunks Palin Claims (9/9/2008 6:53:52 PM)

I spotted this per diem story at lunch, then saw an update that put her reimbursements at roughly 15% (ish) of the what the previous governor had been billing.  Then the story wasn't at the top of the page anymore...  Funny how that happens.

The only things getted vetted worse than Sarah Palin, seem to be the news stories attacking her.

bestbabync -> RE: Newsweek Debunks Palin Claims (9/9/2008 6:54:19 PM)

this is cool!  it is working!

she is capturing America's attention because the Dems are plastering her all over the place!

good job!...hehehe!

bestbabync -> RE: Newsweek Debunks Palin Claims (9/9/2008 6:57:20 PM)

i remember the obama campaign used that same tactic on the Clintons.  how the taxpayers are paying the mortgage for their NY home, by charging a big bill to the US for the Secret Service quarters on the estate.

this is fun!  like a soap opera!

edited by me!

So she was screwing the state at only one 1/6th(ish) the rate of her predeseccor......

Great.

This just in.

She never fired the chief.Just re-titled the position. The "chief" still cooked for her kids.

Her little ditty, that her kids "weren`t happy" about the fired chief,is a big fucking lie!(scews my French)

This woman is just a big fat liar.

I am enjoying the feeding frenzy, it is showing some "journalists" true colors.  Instead of checking facts, they are running with any iota of dirt or rumor and presenting it as fact.  Many are giving up their credibility for the chance to break the story or to be the one that takes out the baracuda.

The best part is they are gluttons for it.

Gov. Palin has spent far less on her personal travel than her predecessor: $93,000 on airfare in 2007, compared with $463,000 spent the year before by her predecessor, Frank Murkowski. He traveled often in an executive jet that Palin called an extravagance during her campaign. She sold it after she was sworn into office.

Oh....the scandal....how dare she reduce spending?

And somehow you cant see the forest of red flags for the red trees with Obama??  Let's see....His association with a known and unabashed terrorist Bill Ayers.  His ties to Tony Rezko.  Add to this Alexi Giannoulioas and Allison Davis.  Let's see, oh yeah, theres the whole Rev. Wright thing....sure he did not know this guy was spewing hate.  He chose to ignore it because it furthered his political aims in Chicago.  I also found very interesting the article written by John Lott, Jr. "In Judging Obama, Question His Judgement".  The article lists a myriad of instances where he blames mistakes or flip flops on his staff.  The President must possess good judgement, both in his decisions and in the people he places around him.  Either Obama is making huge mistakes with the people he is putting around him, or he is making huge mistakes in judgement and blaming his staff everytime it blows up in his face.

Hey Joe;

You know it would be refreshing if the standard response to a post that actually pertains to the OP wasn't always followed with, "Oh yeah?! Well what about Obama! Neener neeener neeeeener!!"

Subtee, isn't that rather the point though?  Every substantive criticism about Governor Palin and her politics just boomerangs on Obama.

Why are the Democrats so insistent on comparing Obama to Governor Palin?  Isn't he running against John McCain?

Level -> RE: Newsweek Debunks Palin Claims (9/9/2008 7:35:30 PM)

Perhaps, but when it's partisan this, and partisan that, the primary use is for each side shout their slogans, and deride the other.

Anywho..... just my thoughts this evening.

Yes, the previous Republican Governor Murkowski did that. However the Democratic governor before him did not:

"It was quite the little scandal," said Tony Knowles, the Democratic governor from 1994 to 2000. "I gave a direction to all my commissioners if they were ever in their house, whether it was Juneau or elsewhere, they were not to get a per diem because, clearly, it is and it looks like a scam -- you pay yourself to live at home," he said.

Please check this link, it goes far, far beyond per diem for staying in her house. She also charged for her kids and husband who are not, presumably, conducting state business.

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/09/09/politics/washingtonpost/main4429304.shtml?source=mostpop_story

Let me be clear. This is not illegal. But Palin is cast as the maverick fiscal revolutionary, yes?  And as is becoming consistent with Sarah Palin, there is the truth to be wrassled with:

Quote: She wrote some form of "Lodging -- own residence" or "Lodging -- Wasilla residence" more than 30 times at the same time she took a per diem, according to the reports. In two dozen undated amendments to the reports, the governor deleted the reference to staying in her home but still charged the per diem.

It isn't my point. I haven't compared Obama to Palin at all. I am curious how you feel though; you really don't have any misgivings at all about her?
