I have done quite a bit, both physcological papers and what one reads on various femdom websites. I guess part of the reason for possibly jumping to the wrong conclusion is that many dom websites use the word 'sadistic' in a flippant manner. Almost like a tick box in an advertising statement. As a result, the word appears everywhere without actually meaning anything. Sadism is also a big word with many connotations. There are some people that enjoy inflicting pain, then there are some other people that get a sexual thrill from inflicting pain. The latter group are possibly rare? (and even dangerous?), but I suspect that most masochists would ultimately like to meet people of the latter group, even if it is only a liason that happens in some deep dark fantasy. I guess when I made my comment I was probably relating to the latter category. In some ways this thread has answered my question to a degree. Hopefully I helped answer the top poster's question too. :) Maso

Whereas most masochists I suspect would like to meet a real sadist. There is definitely a conflict of interests there, one which in some ways makes the two life styles incompatible. Maso
