McCain on the campaign trail, wanting to promote his idea of reform and change, says his aides and cabinet members in the white house who are wealthy will only be paid a salary of $1 a year. McCain says he promises to excerise fiscal discipline in his administration.

McCain also said he would have Democrats in his cabinet.

That's just the effects of the stroke talking.

Kidding aside, I saw that. I don't know about the dollar a day bit, but I do believe him on having Dems in his cabinet.

I guess they wouldn't be volunters then... and then it seems minimum wage laws would come into play I would think or maybe signing waivers.  That doesn't seem right somehow.  Does this mean that he won't get a wage or just the lil people under him?  This is stretching it in my opinion.

All rather Kennedyesque.

He took a dollar in salary.

Mayor Bloomberg only accepts $1 a year in salary.

Hmmm... Lieberman as Sect of State, T. Boone Pickens as Energy Sect, etc...

I wonder if Pickens will have either candidate's ear?

He has met with both campaigns, just before each convention.

I believe McCain finally got ahead in the Gallup polls today 48% to 45%.  Well within the margin of error, regardless, it's good to see that the never-ending election is still competitive.

Then again, I've never been one to trust polls either way.

The salary will be $1 but the earnings from vested interests will be far in excess of that.

That is the way it works.

The point is that they wont be taking home big paychecks from taxpayers when they already making a killing on their own investments and other sources.

Zogby has it 49% to 45%. Rasmussen has the race tied at 48%. So it's trending McCain right now.

Sure that's great if you're sure their investments are ethical and will help the country out rather than them just trying to engineer ways to fix their company's profitability at the tax payers' expense.
