With all the debate (to put it nicely) and all the hand ringing over polls, I thought it was time for us to do a poll (admittedly unscientific) of the CM community regarding the Presidential election.  Where do we truly stand?  How divided or united are we?

No Speeches. No arguments. Just straight up – Who are you voting for?

My vote:  McCain.

Edited to add:  the last word on option three should be "time."  I guess I ran out of space.

Well. . .

Technically, not being an Elector, I cannot vote for either Obama or McCain.  However, I do plan on voting for the Electors that will be votting for McCain/Palin.

Yeah... yeah... yeah... we all know about the electoral college and how it works... but you know what I mean.

Obama here. I just can't vote for McCain.

faerytattoodgirl -> RE: CM Presidential Poll (9/4/2008 10:55:30 AM)

hmm..i thought this was a poll for president of the cm forums...

too bad....

Well, I'll let Karl Rove do the talking about experience and the VP position

I'm just plain tired of the last 8 years of the GOP in charge (and no I don't believe as some would want us to, that everything was fine until the Dems took over last Nov., The GOP had 7 years of complete control and look at the mess we are in)

purepleasure -> RE: CM Presidential Poll (9/4/2008 11:54:00 AM)

I won't vote for McCain/Palin.  If something happens to McCain, I don't believe Palin would make a good President/Commander in Chief.  She just doesn't have that kind of experience, imho.

eta...

I'm not saying that Obama has more experience either.  I'm  looking at the whole ticket, not  just the candidate for President.  Think about the likelihood of either Presidential candidate completing a full term in office.  On one side, there's a 71 year old man who has been known to have health issues in the past, and on the other side is the first non-caucasian candidate who already has been the target in an assassination plot.  So, when you cast your ballot, keep in mind of the big picture.

None of the above.

After much careful consideration. Obama

OneMoreWaste -> RE: CM Presidential Poll (9/4/2008 4:42:34 PM)

Not even an "other", much less enumeration of third-party candidates? Bah.

nursygirl -> RE: CM Presidential Poll (9/4/2008 5:26:40 PM)

I'm in Canada so I can't vote - but if I could I would go for Obama.  McCain's poor choice in Sarah Palin as a running mate, imho, was only a last resort to pick up those undecided Hillary supporters.

There are more than 2 tickets running for president...

Kermit. This isn't a joke, I am writing in Kermit the day I go to the polls. I figure that it's better to be 100% sure the President is a puppet before he takes office than after.

kittengirl8 -> RE: CM Presidential Poll (9/4/2008 7:12:19 PM)

On October 20th, I have the intention of casting my vote for McCain/Palin. Obama is horrendous, and the independents don't appeal to me. (I love Barr's running mate, but hate Barr more than McCain. How sad.)

BlackPhx -> RE: CM Presidential Poll (9/4/2008 7:38:44 PM)

Jesse the Body Ventura..but failing that choice..Obama as I am having trouble listening to McCain tout and praise a woman for balancing a state budget when that state was handed to her with a 5 billion dollar budgetary surplus at a time when most states were having to CUT services and jobs to balance their budgets, according to the NY Times.

Thunderbird56 -> RE: CM Presidential Poll (9/4/2008 8:04:52 PM)

The "Poll" is incomplete. My choice is Frmr GA Congressman Bob Barr, the Libertarian Candidate. Granted, unless something extreme and unexpected happens, either McCain or Obama will be swearing to uphold, protect and defend the Constitution early next year, but there are other choices.

Everyone has been screaming "Change". It's Obama's campaign slogan. Most of McCain's supporters aren't happy with the "status quo" either. Look at the 2 roads we've taken over the last 30-40-50 years that have brought us to where we are today ... where everyone is screaming for change. Those two roads have been the "right" and the "left".

Why on Earth would *anyone* continue to travel down either side of that congested 2 lane blacktop and honestly expect any *real* change to occur? Albert Einstein said, "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result". If you really want "change" you've got to be willing to take a different road.

I've known for quite some time that with this upcoming election, would surely come a write-in selection....And for the longest time it was a tough choice between Ron Paul, Hugo Chavez, Vlad Putin, Robert Mugabe and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad - But I've finally decided that Vlad Putin will be my choice.

Marc2b -> RE: CM Presidential Poll (9/5/2008 6:37:35 AM)

Okay!  Okay!  I forgot the "Other" line!  Geeze.

Though, to be sure, a vote for a third party canidate is the same as "I'm not voting."

Aynne88 -> RE: CM Presidential Poll (9/5/2008 8:38:25 AM)

Yes but Thadius you know that is a waste of a vote. Not in our lifetime is there going to be a viable third party candidate. Hey, I love Dennis Kucinich, but when it is a matter of such magnitude and importance I have to vote where my vote will be counted. ......hopefully.[8|]  It gets harder and harder every year to stay optimistic though.

Oh, Obama. Of course.[:)]
