In other words, one must define the destination, and present the strategy to get there.  Hoping for change is not going to make it occur, and be careful of the change that you do get, because not all change is for the better.


You mean like the way Bush defined "victory" in Iraq?

......are you trying to get shot down? What you type would be true if the US was entirely isolationist. As it isn't, as the USA has a foreign policy, what you have typed is demonstrably untrue.

In the past you have commented on these fora on the situations in other countries. Since your recent post suggesting that all foreigners ought not comment on elections in the US you have stopped doing so, presumably in order to avoid being called a rank hypocrite. However some of us have this thing called a memory.....so that aint going to work.

As to 'damn skippy', what the hell does a telegenic kangaroo have to do with the price of fish?

No. There are quite a few lawful permanent residents (who pay taxes, incidentally, and contribute actively to the economy) who are affected by the elections. Therefore, I'd say they have a stake in the affairs of this country: they may not have a vote, but they fucking well have a stake.

And that's whether you like it or not.

Their citizenship is beside the point, since they are lawful permanent residents and they have a right to free speech and freedom of opinion and expression, whether you like it or not. You can repeat the same thing ad infinitum, it won't change a thing.

You're obviously unaware of immigration procedures, however: for persons over 18 it takes five years after obtention of the green card before a person can apply for U.S. citizenship; 3 years if they have the privilege of being married to a US citizen (who has been so for more than 3 years) for at least 3 years. For your perusal, I attach a handy USCIS link: it will inform you.

I'm not sure what you're getting at here, aside from annoying people. Considering the volume of trade we engage in with other nations, and the amount of money and equipment we send overseas in humanitarian and military aid, I'd say that most of the known world has a stake in who we elect. They just don't get to vote.
