thornhappy -> Instant Palin experts (9/3/2008 6:37:37 PM)

Hi folks--

I read a variety of blogs for jollies.  Currently I have a few medblogs, a few from Alaska, and some misc ones just for jollies.

One of the Alaskan blogs here has a fantastic analysis of the news cycle nowadays, and where the weak spots are.  He's a past Navy chief warrant officer and worked intel; he writess a great example of what happens in the game of "telephone".  He also comments on all the "instant experts" in Alaska who're now writing about Sarah Palin.

The post is titled "Zsa Zsa's Cat".

thanks, Thorny!  That was a great read!

Thank you thornhappy, that was a good read. I've been wondering where all these instant experts were coming from... and a bit curious about the lack of solid documentation for many of the things that are being claimed.

In all fairness though we saw the same thing around the Obama campaign, and while I obviously disagree with Obama and the left generally, I tried hard to see through the "fog" in his case too. It's a good article.

He's got another one, talking about how it's bad for Alaska that she's VP ("Worst Kept Secret in Ohio").

Palin's beginning her speech now - hopefully I'll be a little more of a Palin expert by the time she's through.

Everyone better get used to her. After this speech she will be our next Vice President..

No you didn't. You were right out in front of the parade. Right there with CL, and Heretick, and Cyberdude, and, to a lesser extent, Thadius, twirlin' your anti-Obama batons and missing no opportunity to slander Obama with that horseshit about Wright/Ayers/Rezco/Michelle. Didn't miss a beat.

You can try being a revisionist, but it's all there in B&W for anyone who cares to look.

Didn't catch the speech..

So, did it clear up all the concerns? Did she come clean on Troopergate? Did she admit she was being a hipocrite about abortion? Did she apologize to the librarian for asking about how to ban books, then threatened her job?

Or was it more of the McSame... empty platitudes, combined with "Norman Rockwell" warm fuzzy biographical BS? All carefully cleansed of anything that would seem the slightest bit controversial?

I like his closing though:
quote:

If the GOP takes the White House this time around, will Palin be a good Vice President (there is no such thing as a "great" VP, think back, name one), yes. She will. Of this I have no doubt. And four years from now, or maybe even eight, she'll make a truely great president - and by then, hell, I might even be voting republican again.

Is that a good thing for the United States and the rest of the world? Yes, absolutely. Sarah Palin is hands down the best choice John McCain could have made.

Is that a good thing for Alaska. No. Selfishly, no.

Vendaval -> RE: Instant Palin experts (9/3/2008 8:56:30 PM)

Good finds as usual, thornhappy.

Her speech was a getting to know you, feel good and support Senator McCain kind of speech.  She seemed a bit nervous at first and then warmed up to the cheering crowd.

Mayor Guiliani was a disappointment.  He was negative, critical and rattling sabers.

what you are calling "Troopergate" turns out to be a domestic situation in her family caused by that trooper tazzing her 11 year old nephew, the trooper's stepson and then the trooper threatened Gov. Palin's life.  Please get your facts straight.  thank you!
