msprudence -> Help finding a Small -but not Dorm Fridge? (9/1/2008 8:59:01 PM)

I have this funky old adobe that I have been redoing for weeks... and I have to buy a new fridge.  In a perfect world, the fridge would fit under the cabinets- and be under 52 inches high.

I'm having a hard time finding such a thing.

I find European appliances, which don't have the right kind of plug.  And I find dorm fridges- which are about 36" high.  But not much in between.

Any suggestions?

Check RV sites.  There should be quite a variety of sizes.

Try your local "mom & pop" appliance store.  They can usually offer you several options (although you may not be able to see them in person before you buy.)  If you don't have any local, ask your other larger places if they do special orders.

Under the counter fridges are actually becoming a bit more common, so you should be able to find something at that height if you special order.

Google "apartment refrigerator".  One hit is Beverage Factory.  Here is one that is 48 3/4 inches high:  http://www.beveragefactory.com/refrigeration/refrigeration/apartment/avanti_FF512PS_refrigerator_freezer.shtml

There's more on the page on the first link, you just have to click on each fridge to see the specs for size.

Do a search for undercounter refridgerators, or use a search using terms like  6 cubic feet,

You can also try finding a used keg fridge. They are about the size you are looking for and easily found used and new.

I found a great small refrigerator/freezer at Home Depot.
