Lots of good news.

Not as bad, misses New Orleans, the levees should hold.

It`s still a strong strom but won`t hit like Katrina did.

Thank god.

Well, it ain't over till its over.  Much ado about nothing, that's good.

It is better to be prepared and not need it, than to need it and not be prepared.

As the soft, late summer rain, mists thru the delta.

Y'all can come back now, heah?

Ron

It is a good thing that this happened during a republican administration.

I can here it now, copious threads gnawing on it like a bone...

Yeah, that's just like them fawning mewling puking lefties, bitch about global warming, and green jobs and they go out and  wasted all that gas........

LOL.

The eye should pass of us within the next couple of hours.  We have seen much worse so this should be a piece of cake.  Winds have picked up and the power flickers a bit but the generators haven't kicked on yet.  FYI we are in my server room which is an old bank vault so I'm not worried about the structure.  Good luck to anyone in the path.  Watch out for tornadoes and power lines.

MusicalBoredom -> RE: Gustav weakening (9/1/2008 11:13:09 AM)

Generators switched on and running on emergency power but hey I still have internet and AC.

Vendaval -> RE: Gustav weakening (9/1/2008 11:23:22 AM)

Sounds like you guys are in a good space to ride out the storm. The lessening of Gustav is an encouraging sign, but Hanna is out in the Bahamas and moving toward the mainland after this one.

Hang tight, folks.

And now for you weather update (for those that are curious)...

Being hit hard with wind and rain right now.  I haven't seen or heard any tornadoes yet.  Things are pounding on the side of the building as the wind carries them off.  I can hear limbs breaking but I can't tell if they are large or small.  It's really a no big deal thing at the moment.  We did loose one window but that's it so far.  I now return you to your regularly scheduled program.

Thadius -> RE: Gustav weakening (9/1/2008 1:53:04 PM)

Glad to hear you guys are safe and sound.  Riding out the beast with ac and the internet, doesn't sound all that bad.

I just hope it doesn't stall, and drop all that rain in one place.

Godspeed.

Lol,

Will we get the standard obligatory news video of you standing at 45 degrees in the wind and rain, holding a mic?

Thanks for the news.

The water behind the most vulnerable levees is receding.

A foot and a half so far.Very good news.

They`re now bracing for the storm surge and flooding that`s sure to come next.

Owner59 -> RE: Gustav weakening (9/1/2008 8:52:05 PM)

Downgraded to a tropical storm.

Harsh but still not a hurricane.

I think New Orleans dodged a bullet.[;)]

There`s a new storm coming in fast, though.

Take care folks.

Irishknight -> RE: Gustav weakening (9/1/2008 8:56:39 PM)

Hurray!!!! Try to keep dry down there ..... hell, send some rain up here.  We'll take a bit of it off your hands.

MusicalBoredom -> RE: Gustav weakening (9/1/2008 9:08:02 PM)

All ok here with us.  Power is still out for a big chunk of the city but ours is back.  Curfew in effect for the next few day and there seems to be a lot of property damage.

SavageFaerie -> RE: Gustav weakening (9/1/2008 9:15:33 PM)

Im so glad to hear you weathered through it okay.

Hugs

Vendaval -> RE: Gustav weakening (9/1/2008 9:43:09 PM)

Thanks for the updates, folks.  I was watching the special on NBC tonight and am very relieved that most of the coastal areas are evacuated and that very few deaths have been reported.
