A state law in Illinois mandates that all bachelors should be called master, not mister, when addressed by their female counterparts.

I wonder what the penalty is.

Being face stripped, put to her knees and promptly collared.

I remember a law from the great state of TN that allowed a man to beat his wife with a "club" as long as said device had no sharp or protruding edges.

At one time that was consideed proper English. I have an Aunt who addressed my birthday cards etc, prefixing "Master" to my name.

If they have laws requiring the use of proper English, alot of people are going to be in alot of trouble.

PS There was a time when I rode bus crosstown to work, and I really couldn't understand what half of the people were saying.

During my apprentice, I had to address a mean old man as Master....that image is etched in my mind along with the dufus Major Nelsonand are the two reasons I don't like being called Master. I believe if you got on the bus today... things would still be the same.

That's not the only weird Illinois law. In Champaign, Illinois: "One may not pee in his neighbor's mouth."

Tsk, tsk. So many people have problems with watersports...

Also, I have a list of strange sex laws saved on my computer if anyone is interested in hearing more.
