Louisiana Governor Jindal and Mayor Nagin said today this is going to be worse than Katrina. And everyone is to evacuate New Orleans. By tomorrow no one will be able to get into the city. All lanes on all highways will be going one-way....out.

The storm path right now takes it just about 100 miles or so west of the city of New Orleans. That's way too close for comfort and the city will be hit by the strongest area of the storm. Storm surge could be as high as 25 feet and massive flooding is expected if the course does not change.

National Hurricane center says Gustav may become a category 5 hurricane as early as tonight.

If you live where this thing may hit.....get out! This may be a big monster! It is gaining strength by the hour.

The NY Times also confirms this:

I love New Orleans, that's where I turned sixteen. But it goes without saying that they'll have to give that city to the sea for good this time if this is even close to a direct hit. They should have done so after Katrina. How could they possibly justify rebuilding it again?

As long as the levies hold there won't be a repeat, remember most of the damage was from the lake punching through and adding to the flooding.

Do you think that Ray Nagin can get all of those un used school busses started this time around??They should also have some added security so the cops don't break into the car dealerships and steal cadilacs again..

This is shocking.

After the horrible tragedy last time they have changed the law and folks can bring their animals this time, I pray and hope.

I've read that the levees aren't any better now than they were before.

I read this article and it doesn't sound good for NO residents:

I hope this storm isn't as bad as predicted and that everyone is safe.
