http://www.usatoday.com/news/politics/election2008/2008-08-28-carter-denver_N.htm?loc=interstitialskip By Alan Gomez, USA TODAYDENVER — Former president Jimmy Carter called Republican presidential candidate John McCain a "distinguished naval officer," but he said the Arizona senator has been "milking every possible drop of advantage" from his time served as a prisoner of war in Vietnam. Carter said that whether he was asked about religion, domestic or foreign affairs, every answer came back to McCain's 5½ years as a POW. Well put, Mr. Carter. Has anyone else noticed McCain doing that? Any time I hear a clip of McCain speaking on NPR, he's always talking about his POW status. Now I'm not taking anything at all away from McCain, but Carter just called it as he saw it. McCain brings up Vietnam almost as much as Walter does in "The Big Lebowsi." Finally, channeling the spirit of the Dude, Carter stands up and says, "What the fuck does any of this have to do with fucking Vietnam?!" That would be like Obama answering each and every question put to him by reminding the folks that he's black. "What do you think about abortion?" "Well, my years spent as a black man..." "What is your stance on Iran?" "My time as a black man has taught me..." "How do you propose to fix the economy?" "Because I'm a black man, I..." Again, I'm not taking anything away from John McCain, I'm just glad that someone finally stood up and pointed this out.
