I have this one professor that just doesn't *get* me. I don't know what the deal is... Maybe she doesn't appreciate my sarcasm? For example, we had to write some journals for a trip we took and she took something completely out of context and was upset about it. Needless to say, I won't be taking her again, but has anyone else had this issue?

All the time. If you have strong opinions and a certain kind of humour/sarcasm and you joust with irony as a weapon, you're bound to be misunderstood by square individuals. It's her loss for not 'getting' you :-) .

Years ago when I was doing my undergraduate work, I took a creative writing class, and my professor kept grading me badly on EVERY story I wrote because the story didn't have any gay characters in it. It didn't matter what I was writing or the genre. If it didn't have a gay character in a positive perspective, the story was graded low. I finally dropped the class and found another instructor. Her course required that I had to include a female lesbian in every story, but what can you do? Gotta love doing your undergraduate work in San Francisco.

Have you considered that she might be attracted to you? I know it's a long shot, but that's how some people react when they're attracted to somebody they can't have  .

It happens. It's human nature. You're in college and you have the right to choose which courses to take and who to take it with. Yeah, you might be forced to take a class that you don't enjoy for the sake of requirements but you still have the choice to choose something else that might interest you more. =)

Lemme guess.  You were filling your stories up with male lesbians?Sorry, couldn't resist.  Seriously, that's pretty nonsensical to think that every story had to have a lesbian in it to have any merit.  What BS...............luci

Relationships between people are much like chemistry.  Some combinations attract, some are neutral and others repel.  Choose your battles and future instructors wisely.  Then you will save on the headaches.

You may get what, anywhere from only a few to a handful of rotten professors on your way to finishing school... over a 30+ year career, I suspect the average professor will get a dozen or more totally vapid students for every class they teach, every semester... and they had to put up with rotten professors to get where they are.

You're way ahead of the game...

ETA:  And, yes, I've had my share of rotten professors, I feel your pain...
