By your reasoning, we would need a Republican Congress and a Democratic President. But then, high gas prices and inflation are partially a result of Democrats' refusal to allow any new drilling. And since either party would have gone to war following 9/11, you're obviously suggesting we throw all the Democrats out.

From the posts, you all must like the last eight years of high gas prices, inflation, war, and Bush.  If that is the case, why watch the convention?  I usually watch both, but not this time.   No use for me to watch the loser.

News Flash! US uses 25% of world oil production, but has only 3% of proven reserves!

NEXT CASE!!!

What's the Obama energy plan again?

Oh yeah, check the air in your tires...

Basically she was saying, I'm supporting Obama because he's not a Republican

Seems a good reason as any to me.

Richard Milhous Nixon: Jan 20, 1969 to Aug 9, 1974

Gerald Rudolph Ford: Aug 9, 1974 to Jan 20, 1977

Ronald Wilson Reagan: Jan 20, 1981 to Jan 20, 1989

George Herbert Walker Bush: Jan 20, 1989 to Jan 20, 1993

George Walker Bush: Jan 20, 2001

Don't forget to get a tune up also......

bipolarber -> RE: Has the Fat Lady Sung? (8/27/2008 3:08:36 PM)

Hummm... couldn't get the level of hyperbole and vitrol on the "speech opinion" thread so you decided to open one up specifically for bashing, eh? Okay, I'll play along...

If McCain were to chose a female running mate, you'd probably be right. There would be a groundswell of support from female voters... and with McCain being 73 (and his father only having lived to 69 before dying of heart problems) she would stand a good chance of being the first female President of the United States.... I wonder how having a woman republican would change things like choices for the Supreme Court, abortion policy, stem cell research, etc.?

It would certainly be interesting.

But, do you REALLY think McCain will choose anyone other than another old white guy?

Thadius -> RE: Has the Fat Lady Sung? (8/27/2008 3:12:13 PM)

Considering the front runners in the veepstakes, I would dare say his pick will be younger than the old white guy that Obama chose... and could quite possibly be a woman.[8|]

bipolarber -> RE: Has the Fat Lady Sung? (8/27/2008 3:19:10 PM)

Gee, I was hoping maybe he'd choose Tim Conway. That way he could do his "World's Oldest VP" routine, and make McCain seem spry  and vital by comparison.

Thadius -> RE: Has the Fat Lady Sung? (8/27/2008 3:23:40 PM)

He could always blow some minds and go with another 70+ gent... Hugh Hefner. [8D]

bipolarber -> RE: Has the Fat Lady Sung? (8/27/2008 3:31:33 PM)

Hummm.. if Hefner were the VP, at least the white house interns would be more interesting to look at....  and "a night in the Lincon Bedroom" would have a different connotation.

Thadius -> RE: Has the Fat Lady Sung? (8/27/2008 3:33:07 PM)

Indeed.

ShreveportMaster -> RE: Has the Fat Lady Sung? (8/27/2008 6:57:15 PM)

I can imagine the campaign slogans...two chickens in every pot, and two chicks in every bed!

Vendaval -> RE: Has the Fat Lady Sung? (8/27/2008 6:58:34 PM)

Nah, Hef has his own palatial estate at the Playboy Mansion. Who would want to leave such luxurious splendor?

Vendaval -> RE: Has the Fat Lady Sung? (8/27/2008 7:01:14 PM)

Since it is Hef we're talking about I think that would be, " two bunnies in every man's bed!"

Thadius -> RE: Has the Fat Lady Sung? (8/27/2008 7:01:49 PM)

I am sure he wouldn't mind hosting senate meetings out at the mansion... who says he has to move to DC?

Vendaval -> RE: Has the Fat Lady Sung? (8/27/2008 7:14:11 PM)

Uh huh...like anything would get done with all those gorgeous women around.

Unlike some of the other men's magazines, I think Playboy is a class act.  The models are showcased beautifully and they interact well with their fans.  And the old cliche is true, some very good writers are featured in the magazine.  The advice columns are great too.
By the way, I do miss Xaviera Hollander's column in Penthouse.

You act like things are getting done now.

Vendaval -> RE: Has the Fat Lady Sung? (8/27/2008 7:26:14 PM)

Surely you jest!  Oh...look, Xaviera has a book out!  What ever were you saying again?

yet another pussy-phobe heard from...  wake up fatdaddy..  the times will change.

How quickly you resort to the character assassination and hate speech, Lotus...  Mighty Republican of you [:D]

Now THAT'S funny.. you using your own party's main tactic in an attempt to insult someone!  Nice try... considering your party has outdone anyone else in insulting the Americn people for the last 8 years.

I wasn't insulting anyone or anything, it was a female to male comment regarding his comment.  Just standing up for my gender.

What an honest politician, how much more clearly could he say that he is only offering air?
