i don't like third person speak or the dreaded I/i, We/we slashy thing - sometimes i avoid threads and posts like that. as far as not capitalizing my "i" or at the beginning my sentences - i'm simply being lazy.

It wouldnt work for me. I think of all that stuff as props designed for a performance. In other words for me, to use those affectations of submission would mean I am playing a role. Even worse, it would mean that my partner needed those affectations to prove his dominance over me. Thats not something I want to believe in someone who rules me. But, thats just me and mine. If someone wanted it, needed it, and it got them wet, more power to them. Ooooh, I HATE that slashy I/i thing. >.< Granted, when my pet does type or write me a note, he always capatilizes "Sir", even though I tell him he doesn't have to. I've finally gotten him over the "i" bullshit too. I don't hold to those kinds of protocol, and if I EVER caught him referring to himself as "it", or "this one", or something along those lines, I'd go ape shit. He learned that very very fast, and that he was never to do that again. "It", referrs to a footstool, or a desk, or a piece of garbage, and if he wanted to be looked at as a piece of garbage, then I would do with him what I do with any other garbage. I do still allow him to refer to himself as "Your pet" on occasion, just as I refer to myself as "Your master" sometimes. And no, I don't tend to capitalize "master" or "sir" often in writing. He is a person, and although he is 'under me', he's NOT 'below me'. I will not put up with him thinking he is below ANYONE. He is to walk proudly, with his head held high, secure in the knowledge that he is loved and I would accept nothing but the best as my pet. And since he is my pet, it only stands to reason that he is below no man/woman.

*chuckling at "tonto speak" I believe the third person speech protocol has it's roots in the Gorean philosophy, not online chat rooms. I'm not a fan of the speech, although protocol wise, it may have it's place. The slashy typing I abhor; it's just not readible.

Damn it.. some one beat me to it... and yes.. "We are not amused" that sums up my third person talk. Maybe it is good for gamers.. or roleplayers ( get out your dice folks.. or rock paper scissors ) but not in real life.. I would just feel like an ass personaly. Gwyn

Exactly beth, if your master or sir likes it, then as a good sub/slave you will do it. If he doesn't, or doesn't care then you will do what you want to do. my Sir doesn't like it, so i don't do it. And actually, its just as well because for me it feels artificial. " to each, his own" [:)]

I have seen it used many times and places , but for me I cant say I like it , but as has been said before it is what ever the people involved in the relationship wants , personally If my girl is going to talk to me or send me a note .. just say what you want to say .I dont need slashes or third person talk to understand you

It's much more fun if you use interesting substitutions for the "i" or "my". Random cycling nouns are amusing to play with. For instance, they can be used to break bad habits. Such as forcing someone to reply to you as "this little nose picker." Or just silly things really Tea pots, cereal boxes-sex toys................[:D]

You have got to love any series of postings in which Queen Victoria gets involved, that just screams of a good time. The whole slash thing just... comes across as awkward to me, thats merely a personal approach - but it could simply be a sort of stumbling of the eyes over the visual appearance of it. The / feels almost like a hurdle (and damn I just can't jump very well) when I'm reading anything. However, I really shouldn't be one to speak, I know I've been horrible cruel to the common comma - if you know the origin of that phrase I praise you. Out of curiousity in all of this, how do you feel about subs using "one" (i.e. "One is here for her master")
