Hippiekinkster -> McCain "alarmingly bad" w/ Foreign Policy (8/23/2008 9:19:21 PM)

From the Cato Institute - a Libertarian Right-wing organisation, as you should all not need reminding.

http://www.cato.org/pub_display.php?pub_id=9595
"There is little doubt about McCain's lengthier foreign policy experience. But it is not at all apparent that his judgment is superior to Obama's. Indeed, the record indicates that McCain's own judgment is alarmingly bad."

"...McCain's own prognostications on Iraq have repeatedly been off the mark. He was not prescient about the course of the war: As senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee prior to the invasion, McCain predicted Iraq would be a quick and easy victory, and even told MSNBC he had "no doubt" U.S. troops "will be welcomed as liberators.""

"Foreign policy is serious business, and America needs a president who carefully considers his comments rather than shoots from the hip. The world is always watching and listening, and such thoughtless remarks can do tremendous damage to America's already tattered reputation.

McCain's record shows clearly that he is a verbal loose cannon, and would be a clear and present danger in the Oval Office."

We've had 7 years of "shoot from the hip" "let God sort 'em out" so-called Foreign Policy from the Smirking Chimp and his Neoconman minions. I want a man in the White House who can actually think, and who understands that the strength of our country comes not from Rolls-Royce Rich Reactionaries, but from a strong middle class whose jobs have not been sent to the lowest bidder to meet Wall Street's quarterly projections.

What a bunch of crap!
Who cares about our "reputation?"
If McCain is a novice on foreign affairs that's a plus, I don't want my president spending much time on that at all!
It's funny, foreign countries "like" whichever candidate they think they'll be able to get the most Taxpayer dollars out of! And this time around that's Obama and Biden.
Who cares what foreign countries "think" anyway?
Fuck 'em!

Uh, well, I like my Presidential candidates to have a bit more knowledge than just being able to spell "foreign". We have these weird things called "Treaties" and "Trade Agreements" with other nations that, properly understood and negotiated, would/could benefit us. Instead, the Great Unwashed Nascar Gomers like to vote for "no gnu taxes!" and "give me guns!" and  "Oh, no! Saddam has a nuke buried under the post office in Dumbass Springs, Idaho! We need to invade and make the Middle East safe for Halliburton!"

While all the time the Walton family of Über-patriots can't get Chinese garbage shipped here fast enough to sell to the soccor-mom bimbos who can't understand why their hubby lost his job at the plant, and why the schools are falling apart because there isn't any money to pay teachers with because Wallyworld got a sweetheart deal of NO TAXES! just for building another milk 'em and bilk 'em shitty cheap goods depot. Huuu-aaaahhhh!

There's a whole generation or two of Murkins who have no idea how well hand-made soap lathers (I know; I make soap; and I sell what I make very quickly. I'm back-ordered, in fact (I think I gave GT some. Or maybe not, I don't remember))) or what a well-crafted wooden toy looks like (yep, Mr Smith the craftsman couldn't compete against THE STORE WHAT PAID NO TAXES). Craftsmanship is going by the wayside (the US used to make fairly good quality stuff, almost as good as Germany)

To answer your question, I CARE about our reputation. I don't want to see our skills get any more under-utilized because shit-head Wall Street punks who have never dirtied their hands diss some CEO who actually kept a few people on rather than sending the jobs to Watchafuckincallit, Malaysia and subsequently missed the quarterly Ebitda by 0.008%. Fuck that.

I thought you were an American.

The umbrella category for all of that above is 'European' I hear.  Although these mythical Europeans are few and far between.

Owner59 -> RE: McCain "alarmingly bad" w/ Foreign Policy (8/24/2008 8:24:38 AM)

Remember when they said Obama attended only 1 of  3 hearings on Afghanistan(while in office)?

lol, McCain hasn`t been to any in the last two years, none.Where`s the foreign policy gravitas in that?

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/07/hearing-gate-ex.html

"It turns out that presumptive Republican nominee Sen. John McCain has attended even fewer Afghanistan-related Senate hearings over the past two years than Obama's one. Which is a nice way of saying, McCain, R-Ariz., the top Republican on the Senate Armed Service Committee, has attended zero of his committee's six hearings on Afghanistan over the last two years."

Yet another "deer in the headlights" moment for McCain.

Not to hijack, but I like how the Pentagon is adopting Mr Obama`s strategy, for Afghanistan.

http://www.reuters.com/article/politicsNews/idUSN0848183320080808

And Iraq.

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/13/washington/13military.html

Twue,McCain might have more experience then Obama,he`s fuck`n 72 fuck`n years old.He better have more fuck`n experience!

The problem,is his judgement.

It`s the direction McCain will take us,that`s wrong.McCain could have twice as much experience and that still wouldn`t make him correct.

You missed "surender monkey" and one of their favorite put-downs,calling someone "French".

[sm=biggrin.gif].[sm=biggrin.gif].[sm=biggrin.gif].

They are a funny bunch.

If neo-cons call their opponents "French",for apposing the Iraq disaster, how pray tell should we refer to neo-cons, for being reckless, asshole, nation invading thugs?

German?

[8|]

My apologies to the Germans.

bipolarber -> RE: McCain "alarmingly bad" w/ Foreign Policy (8/24/2008 11:16:35 AM)

Oh, I thought we could be free to like the French now, since they bartered the Russia/Georgia deal.

Poor France. Just goes to show that no good deed goes unpunished. They see America getting ready to make the worst mistake in 50 years, and try to talk us out of it, and all they got was to be slapped around for it by us. I don't suppose it would help any to point out that they were right...

Anyway, so it turns out the McCain doesn't know anywhere near as much as he pretends to... you needed someone to TELL you this, after his "let's go bomb Moscow" rant a couple of weeks ago? Or his "Bomb, bomb, bomb... bomb Iran" joke? He's a republican hawk, fer chrissakes! I don't know if you recall or not, but wasn't he the one who coined that BS about the US being greeted in Iraq as liberators? Need to chaeck on that... I know I've seen viedo of him saying that, so either he coined it, or he was just parroting the white house talking point.

Hippie, I mostly agree with you there.
But you're talking about "Trade", not "foreign policy" which under every administration since Carter has been a disaster for the U.S.
We need to get o-u-t of all of the trade agreements we're in now!
Our trade agreements should be very spartan and shouldn't be decided by Walmart or any other corporation!
We need to get manufacturing back in the U.S.!
I'm tired of having no choice in stores but to buy something that's made in China, Thailand or Honduras, that's why I don't buy anymore.
You won't get any argument from me on that.

As for "foreign policy" I don't want my govt. getting us involved in the problems of foreign countries!
It is time that we end those "foreign aid" programs not increase them!
Obama has said publically that he wants to "double foreign aid!"
That's nothing but global socialism and it's stealing U.S. Taxpayer Dollars!
That money should be returned to the Taxpayers to whom it rightly belongs!
Then if someone wants to donate their own funds to a foreign country or charity they can do it.
I don't want my govt doing it "for" me and I don't want them in the "foreign aid business!"
There are too many lawyers, lobbyists, corporations and others in Washington who are making tremendous amounts of money from "foreign aid."
And Obama wants to double foreign aid?
How can he (not) know where all that money is going?
There are currently more than 130 countries on foreign aid, many of them since the 1940's!
Every country in the Carribean is getting foreign aid!!!
This needs to *end!*
I don't mind us helping out like after the tsunami in 2005 but to have ongoing "foreign aid" programs in place that are making so many beauocrats rich is insane!
We need to *Outlaw* any type of lobbyists!
Also, Obama has stated publically that he would send our Troops to Darfur!!!
What the hell is that all about?
That has absolutely nothing to do with the U.S.!
Someone needs to explain the job title of "president of the U.S." to him!
Does he think he's going to be an "Emporer" or something?
How can anyone who wants our Troops out of Iraq then want to put them in Darfur? Talk about *Imperialism!*
We've had Troops in Japan and S. Korea since the 40's and 50's!
It's time to bring them home and put them on the Mexican border where they're *needed!*
Obama hasn't said anything about what he's going to do for the U.S. with the exception of some vague slogan about " having an aggressive opportunity agenda for America."
WTF does that mean?
Clinton did the same thing with his, "Building a bridge to the 21st century."
He didn't build too many bridges in Minnisotta though, did he?
WhoTF writes that shit???
Obama wants more foreign aid, more Troops in foreign countries, and people try to say that McCain would just be an extension of Bush???
I'm tired of my Troops dying in foreign countries!
We need to stop all this shit!
I don't want to continue all this crap but Obama wants to expand it!
Our govt. is doing a lot of things that it *shouldn't* be doing!
If Obama said he was going to stop all foreign aid programs what do you think foreigners would be saying about him then?
They just want our fuckin' money!
