I had a friend who adopted a baby girl and was able to breast feed her so it can be done. It is easier if you have breastfed at least once before you try to induce lactation. It's like the body "remembers" how to do it and can flip the switch on again much easier than if it has to start from scratch. Am I the only person who wishes they couldn't lactate? I breast fed my son for six months after he was born and my boobs didn't stop producing milk for two years--not good when your husband has a lactation aversion.
