Well, I find it interesting that in another article they state that it is a processing area only and that people will not be there long, but they will take people someplace else for longer periods of time. How long will it take to process people? What is good cause for arrest? I would like to know these things, but they don't seem to be talking about that. They said people will be bused to this warehouse jail. How long do they get to sit in a bus until it is full? There is just something I don't like about it all.

Well it would seem the "secret"part is a non-starter,we are discussing it so someone screwed up.I am not defending this, but the fact is an event like the DNC could simply overwhelm a city's capacity to detain and process arrestee's.To pretend that there won't be groups of protesters who have as their objective disruption culminating with the expected arrest is naive These groups are already preparing to have their members arrested,that in some cases is the ultimate goal.Get arrested disrupt proceedings and draw as much media coverage as possible....It is incumbent on the authorities to prepare for these contingencies...you know dammed if you do dammed if you don't.They get caught short handed in facilities to detain and process and that is the rallying cry for the next demonstration

~FR~ processing can take AGES, depending on many factors: effiency of the people handling the paperwork, cooperation of the detainee, etc. to name just a couple.

Arrest leads to trial--and becomes a guaranteed extended forum for presenting one's politics. Best thing for them to do is to have lots of camcorders and a nearby wifi link to Youtube....get the evidence out there where it can't be denied.

Yes, of course... then the busses will be taken to secret underground concentration camps beneath DIA, where alien grays will harvest those people for their organs, and keep the individual tissues alive in vats of alien shemical nutrients.... From there, the peices will be transported to Zeta Reticuli where they will be sold as beef jerky.

Sounds a bit reactionary to me. If they didn't have this and had lots of arrested people being jammed up in the normal facility, people would bitch that it took them so long to process because the facility was inadequate. So they used some proactive thinking and got bigger facility so they could process people faster and they get clocked for that too. You can't win with some people. And accusing them of making it a secret prison is a bit of a stretch. I'm sure all the city vehicles with the little lights on them coming and going would be a bit hard to miss.

The thing is, I'm sure there WILL be similar set ups in St. Paul. Sorry, but when it comes to political conventions, passions run high, and as history has shown us, things CAN get out of hand. As so many of my rightie friends on this site love to point out, Obama's a political rock star, and a political lightining rod. Be prepared... hope for the best, sure, but prepare for the worst.
