So I guess the rules for government employess such as Cops, firefighters, military, post office have a max age of 35 to apply is not an age requirement?

Or perhaps all the people forced to retire at 65, why do they have to?    Hell the governement enforces age limits all the time, 16 to drive, 21 to drink, 18 to join the mil,

But when it comes to their own asses, then age does not matter.

Actually no they don't.  There are age limits.  As of last week I read an article in the newspaper the age for the national guard is now 44.  So, it's keeps going up and up.

Though the age to run for the president of this nation is set at a minimum age of 35...
13 for a drivers license in this state.

Anyway, it does not matter one way or another.  I feel if McCain makes it into office we will have another president like Reagan in office.  Havingt the much needed naps to make it through the day.  It is only one health crisis and we don't have a president anymore.

Of course, the alternative is Obama.  What is worse?  Experience versus none.  Old age versus young.

I don't know which one would be best still.  I've been trying to figure that out forever already.  All I hope for at the moment is that we don't end up in Georgia.

SO easy to find fault with either. McCain seems a bit much like Bush, and Obama seems a bit inexperienced, yet no other candidates won enough of their respective primaries so, these are our choices. Personally, I feel that the negative force that has become politics and the instant knowledge of everything a candidate does, has done or might do makes the targets so huge and hard to miss from either side. Face the fact that each man has great qualities and each are deserving of respect. Shawn Hannity, Rush Limbaugh et. al. persuade the right that Obama is the next coming of the Anti-Christ and his surname makes everything he does suspect. In the ads ran here in Ga. McCain has already lost the high road and Obama maintains his positive message. My nature will always lean to those who think "We Can" as opposed to those who think "He can't". If I was to vote today I would vote for Obama.

And in light of Obama's admitting that he's used illegal narcotics, shouldn't we have laws barring candidates showing signs of brain damage from past drug abuse? Especially with all the videos on You-tube showing him acting stoned, or feeble-minded.

Looking at those videos, it appears as if his drug problems might not all be in his past, either.

In Annapolis,McCain graduated 894th ,out of 899 cadets. The bottom five.

Obama graduated magna cum laude at Harvard and was president of the "Law Review"there.

Maybe McCain shoulda done more drugs.

Looks like Obama has slipped further away from his mental peak than McCain, eh?

I am not going to dispute his class rank, although there hasn't been any source I could find that information and McCain himself has stated he wasn't a very good student.  I do have an issue though with your characterization of Annapolis,  where do you thing the cadets of Annapolis would place at other schools, seeing as they are arguably the cream of the crop.

What class ranking would somebody with a 3.9 gpa have at most Ivy League schools?  Hopefully, you can see that using class rank to define somebody's intelligence is flawed at best, and can be very misleading.

kittinSol -> RE: John McSenile: mind going? (8/18/2008 11:08:54 AM)

Yeah, because of course, only epsilon-minus semi-morons graduate from Harvard magna cum laude [8|] .

Ah you missed the point I was making...

If Obama was so highly placed in his class... and having made some of the mistakes he has made (57 states, 10000 killed, etc..) one could reasonable argue that his mental status has slipped further than McCain who didn't start out ranked all that high and has made a gaffe about Sunni and Shia.

Using ones class rank to compare intelligence levels to a class rank at another school is flawed logic.  We have no clue what the GPAs of the either class were, and I would dare say if we compared somebody who graduated 500th in their class from MIT would probably be stronger intellectually  than somebody that graduated 10th in an arts program from a state college.  (apples and oranges I know, but I am using the extremes to point out the lack of comparisons, as they are also apples and oranges).

Where would a GPA of 3.9 place somebody in class rank that is attending an Ivy League school?  Know what I mean.

I heard McCain say that after 3 or 4 ,18 hour days,he`s a little out of it and needs a break.

The POTUS is a 24/7 job,not a 18/4 job.

He needs to be able to be awake for 20-30 hours in times of crisis.

This is one of the reasons the GOP leadership was so against McCain`s nomination at 1st.

But they have him now and that`s it.

Can you provide links to prove any of that?

I saw him say it on tape.

What? You need a link or vid for everything?

Ya know Thadius, not everything, every sentence and every fact can be verified with a link.

But this can.

Vendaval -> RE: John McSenile: mind going? (8/18/2008 10:16:18 PM)

Senator McCain is in good shape for a man his age.  But can he handle the stress and pressures of the Presidential Office?  That is one of my concerns about him.  Past Presidents have visibly aged during their time in office and I thought that President Reagan seemed to be going senile during his second term.   (At least Senator McCain skips the ghastly black hair coloring at this stage of his life.)

That "57 states" thing is a simple slip of the tongue. Hell, I do shit like that every day. It's nowhere near being non compus mentis, and you know it. I haven't mentioned any of McCain's gaffes because they are equally as trivial. "Iraq/Pakistan border" is trivial, in my mind. But when the CWHD (creepy white-haired dud) has no clue as to Iraq's internal politics, and the guy has been in the Senate forever, I'm scared. Speaking of which, here's another Prima Donna who has never had a private sector job. His whole life is due to who his father was, and his old man's connections. Not the topic, though.

Seems like this forgetfulnees runs in the family, too. Seems like Cindy "I'm an only child" forgot she has a sister. Her sister's son was interviewed on NPR today. Oh, yes. Think all those drugs Cindy stole affected her mind, Sanity? Since you are so quick with dumb-assed accusations like that. Cindy McCain, the nation's first Junkie Thief First Lady. What a cunt.

All good points and fair to say it`s not scientific analysis.

I was responding to Sanity`s ugly, low class remark.

Not saying McCain`s mediocre,just tired.

Obama just turned 47.McCain will be 72 in ten days.

Interesting spin on what he said there.  Especially since it was in response to a question about Obama being on vacation for the week.

Obama needed to get away and recharge his batteries, and there is nothing wrong with that.

As to the 57 states thing... here is Obama's response.
quote:

At a later stop, Obama started to address what he said, saying, "I hope I said 100,000 people the first time instead of 100 million. I understand I said there were 57 states today. It's a sign that my numeracy is getting a little, uh."

An aide cut him off at that point and ended the explanation.

I would suggest that both of them probably need a bit more rest than they have been getting on the campaign trail.

bipolarber -> RE: John McSenile: mind going? (8/19/2008 2:17:35 PM)

You bitch about needing a vid to prove what he said, then when he does provide it, it's all "spin"... christ, you just can't admit when you're wrong. At least I can... and have. (Although, I notice that my admissions and apologies don't keep those mistakes from being thrown back in my face... Must be more of that famous "integrity" and "honesty" that you guys are always touting.)

Come on T, on vacation for a week, need we research McCains missed voting periods for the time he served in congress.

Or when McCain did vote on torture........   not to long ago...

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.......it's all more of what the other is doing wrong then what they will do right.

Thadius -> RE: John McSenile: mind going? (8/19/2008 2:45:44 PM)

I wasn't saying anything about missing votes, I was suggesting that the campaign trail would cause any of us to need such a vacation, and that was the context of the quote about needing some rest.

I know you don't want to get into comparing voting records on issues... or having to explain them.  At least I don't think you are that masochistic [;)]

I wish you well,
Thadius

Hello, I suggested the way he presented it was spun.

Did you read the article or listen to the video?  It was in reference to a question about Obama being on vacation last week.  Where did I suggest that he didn't say it?

I agree wholeheartedly. Not only have many political philosphers and some politicians (retired or about to be) agreed and many believe also and I am with them...this should be a tenet of future politics.
