A valid question, I think. The right babbles on about Obama's "inexperience", but nary a word is uttered about his apparent mental decline.

Maybe Cindy can borrow Nancy Reagan's astrologer and run the beer distributorship country. And is it possible he's got a bit of PTSD after his stay in Hanoi?

There's a reason most companies force folks out between the ages 65-75.

I heard McCain say that after 3 or 4 ,18 hour days,he`s a little out of it and needs a break.

The POTUS is a 24/7 job,not a 18/4 job.

He needs to be able to be awake for 20-30 hours in times of crisis.

This is one of the reasons the GOP leadership was so against McCain`s nomination at 1st.

But they have him now and that`s it.

There's nary a word uttered because there is nary a word to utter.  The Democrats wish he were senile, because then he would be an opponent their house of cards candidate can credibly debate.

By all appearances, McCain has more energy, more stamina, and more acuity than Obama (he who hopes to bring down the price of arugula for each of America's 57 states, remember?).

Nifty article.  Shame McCain came out at the forum/debate and looked a hell of a lot more up to speed on world events than Obama did, the day after it was published.

Oh, we've talked about how Obama inhaled frequently alright. Besides Obama's 57 states hallucination there was his breathalysers for asthma senior moment, "Israel is for Israel", Obama sees ghosts, and many more. The guy is lost without his teleprompter.

I call him little Bush Jr!

Oh sure... and McCain didn't confuse Shia and Sunni three times,
McCain didn't accuse Iran of training Al Queda,
and he didn't say that we need to watch the Iraq Pakistan boarder,
His campaign manager didn't say "John McCain doesn't speak for the John McCain campaign."
He didn't give that pro nuclear speech in front of Fermi II, that was just a hallucination on the left's part...
He didn't think that gas was $2.48 a gallon in one of his TV ads.
He didn't give a speech about the US's burgeoning economy in front of a factory that was chained shut, and it's windows busted out and covered over with plywood because it had been closed for three years.
Etc., etc...

They've both made huge gaffes. People do. In a world where everymoment you're awake, you are on TV, there are bound to be moments when they screw up. Do I think McCain is going senile (or showing signs of Alzheimers?) No, not yet, but Reagan didn't show any signs of it either, although apparently, Nancy and others close to him said they could tell that he was fading, even as he was voted into his second term. And THAT'S scary. A POTUS who has lost his short term memory? Especially someone who has a famous short temper like McCain?

I think the second Regan terms was essentially a coup by his then VP Bush Sr.

I know because it would never be possible for Iranians to help train and supply Al-Qaeda...
http://www.nysun.com/foreign/iranians-training-qaeda-terrorists-to-attack-our/43442/
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/1534143/Iran-'is-training-the-next-al-Qa'eda-leaders'.html

Are you suggesting that the extremist Sunni and Shia would not work together to get rid of a common perceived enemy?  IF you are, then I truly wonder who is going senile.

Oh and you are repeating that same mistake you did again... What problems are there with Fermi II?  Are you going to claim the whole meltdown thing again?

Always curious,
Thadius

P.S. It is understandable that Obama made the mistake about visiting 57 states so far, but how about the tornadoes of Kansas?  It must be that new math 12 does not equal 10,000.  Perhaps this is how he balances his budget?

McCain... man! The guy can hardly stand up without wobbling, and his voice is all shaky. He obviously tries to memorise everything his advisers tell him, but his memory is failing him, so it comes across as really unspontaneous.

I'm sure he would make a perfectly nice retiree: but that should be the end of his ambitions for now. That, and perhaps some scrapbooking?

Can you provide links to prove any of that?

Its not really a matter of specifics as much as its a matter of general concern. My father is 86 and our whole family is troubled by his mental decline and mild forms of dementia. It makes you realize that getting older is not a process of getting better, improving, and becoming wiser. At a certain point one's abilities and faculties are just declining. One's reference points become more fixed and more inflexible. I must say, I'm not looking forward to it.

The other thing is the passing of time. The decline of a person going from 71-81 is huge compared to the decline of someone going from 45-55.

Would you be willing to support a constitutional amendment stating what age a person is unfit to run for president or other elected office?  Or how about adding an age to when Justices on the Supreme Court must step down?

Each individual is unique and should be judged as an individual, not based on an arbitrarially decided age.

Isn't the title of this thread exactly what you were complaining about another poster doing just yesterday?  That being said, it was an interesting article.

So I guess the rules for government employess such as Cops, firefighters, military, post office have a max age of 35 to apply is not an age requirement?

Or perhaps all the people forced to retire at 65, why do they have to?    Hell the governement enforces age limits all the time, 16 to drive, 21 to drink, 18 to join the mil,

But when it comes to their own asses, then age does not matter.

Notice most if not all of your examples require physical activity as part of the job description... There is even an age restriction on the presidency one must be at least 35, so I don't see where the argument is.  If one is suggesting that being too old is criteria for being denied an elected office, shouldn't we add it to the laws governing such?  At what age do we stop allowing folks to run (or be elected) for that office? 60? 65? 70? 75?

Oh and another thing, I joined the military at 17, an age where I couldn't even vote, and was in boot camp with somebody that was 37, this was years before the first trip to the sandbox.

And in light of Obama's admitting that he's used illegal narcotics, shouldn't we have laws barring candidates showing signs of brain damage from past drug abuse? Especially with all the videos on You-tube showing him acting stoned, or feeble-minded.

Looking at those videos, it appears as if his drug problems might not all be in his past, either.

So you don't think being President is a strain on the body and mind??  Oh wait Bush has been President so I can see where the confusion is.

Yes, I do think at a certain age you should retire, any person who has others lives in their trust must retire at 65, airline pilots, air traffic controllers,

Even if you want to keep your Drvs lic, you get tested every year after 70, they changed that when all these old people just kept running people over and did not even know it (the old lady at O'hare was the funniest dam video)

So yea, if McCain supporters can bitch about Obama's youth and level of experience then McCain's age should be an open target.    Plus experience does not equal doing a great job, the current WH is the best support of that.

I don't think that U.S. senators should be allowed to run for president.

Mc Cain needs to be in good shape dragging the weight of the failed Bush administration around with him until November. He needs to at least visit reality now & again. He continues to claim that the Surge brought about the Sunni Awakening which it didn't, that he is a "Maverick" when his voting records supported Bush over 90% of the time. He was behind the curve on Katrina, torture, and energy policy. He has a lot of 'splainin to do if the "liberal media" would ever ask.

You know...  no one with any bit of sanity left in their heads would WANT to be president...  They're both bat shit loony.
