I have been watching and enjoying it.  It is pretty damn accurate in it's depiction of Marines.  It made my heart warm and fuzzy to hear the term POG again.

I finished reading the book - and then went on to read LT. Fick's Book - One Bullet Away.

I cried at the end.

I'm hoping HBO does a 'where are the men now' ending....

They did with Band of Brothers, however this is a different director.  There are a few tidbits over here http://www.hbo.com/generationkill/

I can't find where it tells what they are doing now? Maybe I'm missing it.

If you go into the characters profiles, it has the actors and a few of the actual Marines. (under videos)

Nathaniel Fick, author of One Bullet Away: The Making of a Marine Officer (Mariner/Houghton Mifflin) will be a featured speaker at the Democratic National Convention Thursday evening before Barack Obama accepts the nomination. Fick’s speech will be broadcast on primetime TV.

In case anyone else is curious.

heh I went to the generation kill website as mentioned above, and they have a section  where you can "donate" an item out of a list, bandaids, duracell, sanitizers, hand cream, cloth wipes etc, the makers are sending supplies and say they will contribute another item. just in case anyone is interested.
Ive watched it and enjoyed it.

Thanks for the announcement.  I picked up his book last week after watching the HBO series.

Perhaps the most worthwhile 7 hours I have spent in front of a T.V.
To become emotionally involved with a television series is VERY unusual
for Me but, this series nailed Me to My chair for an hour on 7 consecutive
Sundays and I look forward to hearing the Lt. speak.
