NeedingMore220 -> NIN (8/15/2008 10:23:44 PM)

Hey all ...

I've been hearing a lot about Nine Inch Nails around the boards the last couple of days and have clicked on youtube broadcasts and find myself intrigued.  They have so much music out I find myself a bit at a loss as to where to begin with them.

Soo...  can you recommend your favorite NIN song/album that is a must for a new fan?  I'd like to fill my ipod with a good selection.

Thanks!

Pretty Hate Machine is still my favorite album, but all of them are good.

lol!  That's how I felt when I started researching them .. I had no idea they were so prolific.  I'm enjoying all the recommendations so far - thanks for sharing!

GreedyTop -> RE: NIN (8/16/2008 7:20:51 AM)

yeah, Pretty Hate Machine is one of my desert island albums....

I personally like Reznor's earlier stuff from Broken . Pretty Hate Machine was likely the most commercial of all his CD's.

they were totally great live while performing as Lollapalooza's closer 2 weeks ago  *sighs*  being in the photographers pit as close as i was to the stage (floating again) was AMAZING!

Head like a Hole and Closer are my 2 favorites. Angel is a HUGE NIN fan, and he essentially got me started on it.

Oh, yes --- Trent.... want to wrap (tie) him up and take him home -- He's performing here in Houston TONIGHT!!! (And my daughter is going to the afterparty with her musician boyfriend, courtesy of a musician friend who is mixed up somehow with Emilie Autumn. I asked her if she'd bring Trent home in a doggy-bag... she just gave me one of "those" looks.)

Fave songs:

Closer
Reptile
Head Like A Hole
Discipline
With Teeth
The Hand that Feeds
Meet Your Master

And if you like your music without the lyrics -- check out Ghosts I-IV... 36 hrs of truly awesome instrumental work.

I would have difficulty choosing just one song or album of NIN. Having had the privelege of hearing and seeing them in a live performance at the Cal Poly Mott Gym, I have to say that a cold shower was very necessary after the show. [:D]

Just got back from seeing them and all I can say at this point is Oh. My. GOD!!! [sm=hewah.gif] [sm=insane.gif]

I love Closer, has a good techno-dance tune to it and well...sexo-bondage music.

ChicagoAmy -> RE: NIN (8/17/2008 7:25:34 AM)

I've grown out of my need for angsty music. Except for my PMS days I don't usually appreciate NIN like I used to when I was in high school. I'm really only familiar with Pretty Hate Machine and the Downward Spiral. Both are decent if you like industrial angst.
