The simplicity and beauty of this is:
Elimination of the IRS
Elimination of double taxation on incomes
The percentage can be changed permanently or temporarily as needed. This should be done only by the legislature (sp?).
Does not tax unless you spend so it rewards savings and reinvestment.
We are a consumer nation, so a consumption tax seems appropriate. Let foreign companies start here, but they pay the tax here. Let Mega Corps have places here, but they pay the tax here. This also eliminates the extra tax to have employees, at the federal level at least.

I agree but it doesn't go nearly far enough. These kind of suggestions forget...we have what will soon be $10 trillion in federal debt. Also, we have a tremendous entitlement bill coming up and that HAS to be reformed and still payed out.
