I hear you girl.  If I get one more e-mail from an Online- only-cam-whore-wanna-be-sub-boy...sigh...

Wait?  Did that sound overly negative? [8|]

I would simply suggest that "the art of conversation" is not lost.  Perhaps, the places that folks are going and expecting conversation is the main culprit.  Expecting to be stimulated by the communication skills of somebody via the various text mediums, seems a bit silly.  Even during the hay day of the hand written letter, one could argue that it was not conversation, with a few exceptions.  The art of conversation is based on being present in the moment, technology has only taken us further and further away from being present, and from the personal interaction that conversation requires.

Just my opinions,
Thadius

You raise a good point about where and how someone seeks conversation.

I am not expecting IM to be a place for the best discussion, rather a type of shorthand when face to face or phone conversation is not practical.  And I was venting a bit about some of the wanker-male-mails.

Vendeval you are absolutely correct. That is one of the very things that attracted me so much to Master. From the very first week we met we were having two and three hour conversations nightly, on topics ranging from politics to childhood, to current events.  The most enchanting part though was knowing that it was an exchange of ideas, not one persn talking and on listening, it was an ebb and flow and it was truly addicting. The same with my closest friends, there is nothing better than an evening spent with some great wine, and hours of conversing, it is such a rich and full feelng to have those kinds of conversations, when you walk away with a new appreciation and a new outlook on something.

I hope that conversation does not become lost like letter writing and reading, two other things I see less and less of among people.

For anyone to be attractive to me, they must be a good conversationalist.  Call it a hard limit if you wish or high standards.
