Status: offline 		Unfortunately finances do not allow for Cable TV right now as I am on elder care duty for the summer.
 
After opening night the NBC transmission was fine, don't know what the problem was but everything is working now.
 
Right now it's men's water polo!  That's easy on the eyes!

Status: offline 		I remember that snow cross race ... my heart both bled for the girl who lost but I also wanted to berate her for her foolishness and the pain she was going to be feeling when she realized what she did!

Did anyone see the men's 400 free relay tonight?  The French were favored over the Americans, and the French team went so far as to say, 'The Americans?  We're going to smash them."  The analysts were promising the French would come in first based on all the figures they had available.  But no one counted on the 33year old leg of the relay swimming the fastest leg of a relay *ever* with a 46 secs. coming up to edge past the French swimmer.

You couldn't tell other than by computer who came in first, but yes... it was the Americans.  My family was freaking out watching this race - first Phelps, looking for 8 golds swims, then a swimmer who's in the pool for the first time this week but who is one of the fastest on the team, then Cullen Jones, for whom this was his only race during the Olypmics (and only the 2nd African American to win a gold swim medal), and the senior member of the team, Lezak, the 32yo man.  Unbelievable. 

They broke the world record by 4 seconds. 

And the nicest thing was - all teams shook hands after the medal ceremony, together with Australia, who came in third.

Yeah, that was awesome to watch. I also enjoyed watching the American girl, Hoff, just barley miss pulling of a great upset. Oh well... silver is pretty cool.

Our women gymnists made a few mistakes but are still strong contenders for a gold.

Status: offline 		Yeah, Hoff was very close to a gold but couldn't maintain.  Silver is great, though!

I watched some of the gymnastics.  Great story on about a woman representing the German team.  Turns out she had her child a few years back, and when he was about 6 he came down with leukemia.  They were living in Uzbekistan at the time, which didn't have a cancer treatment bed available to him.  The woman used her pull in the international gynmastics community and called a coach on the German team, asking for help for her son.  He had a rough bout of chemo, but is currently healthy, and the mom is now on the German team - I believe she was 34 or thereabouts.  And she did great!

Status: offline 		I had 2 issues.  I loved the entrance of the athelets, even allowed my imp to stay  up to see it.  He's Venezuelan/Puerto Rican on his dad's side and Irish here.  A VenezeRicanish?  Anyway, we enjoyed the Venezuelan atheletes, but was disappointed when they cut away for a commercial as Puerto Rico entered.  Last I heard PR is still a US possession, and many live here.    On the plus side, the story of the little boy walking in withYao Ming  with made me cry.  I was so moved by his heroism.  And to see him walking next to  his idol was wonderful.
