wondering as an offshoot of the security thread.   Car alarms that blare. Some cities now ticket a car due to noise ordinance. And to be sure why the heck would one WANT to hear car sirens when trying to sleep.  If the  person living on that street tries to silence the alarm- it usually cant be done.

When an alarm goes off multiple times then it really gets annoying.

It's pretty quiet here so if I hear a car alarm I go out to look to see what's going on.
Mostly people hitting the wrong button on their key fob.
It doesn't happen that often here so it bears looking when it does.

When I lived near the campus the damned things were a huge nuisance!  We wanted to take a baseball bat to some of the loudest ones.

I used to live in a slightly iffy neighborhood in Denver. One guy down the block went out and bought himself a brand new 'vette, and skimped on the car alarm. As such, the cheap-ass one he had went off with the slightest provocation... like a cat sitting on the hood) and the neighbors got more than a little tired of it. It was no surprise to walk out one morning, and find him talking to the cops about the bowling ball slammed into his windshield the night before.

Damn, I wish I had thought of it.

I guess he took out the alarm after that. Because I never heard it again.

Seems like now, when you hear a blaring car alarm, all people do is roll their eyes because they know it's most likely just someone's false alarm.  A good smash&grabber can have your satellite radio and mp3 player and be gone before you even find your car keys to shut it off.  Ask my son.  (He got robbed that way....he's not a smash & grabber, lol.)

roll the eys- for sure.

I was listening to old music- 1978- I noticed a siren.  thinking why is that on the tape.  Like the person who taped it was interupted.... here it is part of the song.  Looking back on some of the 70s80s music some of the quirks that was cool then is now annoying or no bling bling ---  I guess thats why trends change.

I haven't wasted money on one of these things since one of the gangbangers near my rental house in '95 tried to sell me a stolen car alarm.

Hell no.  My neihbors have em on 2 cars and I swear not a night goes by that one doesn't go off...evidentially they can turn it off from inside the house so even THEY don't go see if someone's messing with their cars..I can't figure out what use they are.
