So, I am addicted to lube in my self bondage play.  For a while, standard KY jelly was a staple in my house.  Had an amazing playdate; very sadly the relationship didn't work out, but he brought this incredible massage and play lube.  I have looked high and low for something similar, to no avail.  Funny thing is, I am pretty sure he just picked it up at a supermarket!

Plz, recommendations needed...the well is drying up!!

BTW, those that include warming and scents seem to irritate/ burn/ SMART!!
and not in a good way *grin*

Perhaps from your perspective.  The real problem with them is they linger.  Once they are on the toys, that is it, even boiling won't get it off again.  And it better not touch any other toy either.  What a headache.

I, like you, am not fond of warming lubes - they just make tender mucus membranes more tender and easier to irritate.  To me, that's the opposite of what a lube should do.  Alas, I have never been fond of combination massage/lubes.  They are neither a good massage lotion nor a good lube.  I keep a separate supply of each.  I LOVE J-Lube, though it's sometimes a bit hard to find.  WetULTRA is also good.  I get a blended unscented massage oil and massage cream at the healthfood store, and have a selection of essential oils.  I am also quite fond of unscented Curel lotion, especially for foot worship.

Two strong thumbs up for 'Gun Oil' silicone based lube.  It's a sorta-generic clone of the Eros Pur lube, but half the price, and available in large quantities.  The last bottle I bought was a 32 oz (!!!) pump bottle.  Its tasteless, not too oily, and not gummy.

Oh!  I understand what you mean now.  You are talking about actually using it as a lube!  I still have uses of the warming oils but I am very careful not to get them on anything at all.  I use it only on surface skin and away from the face and anything internal.   I prefer a good unscented unflavored water based lube.  Easy clean-up is a plus.

My Favorites:
Eros Pjur - silicone
Liquid Silk -  water based

To prolong the effectiveness of your lube without the need to constantly reapply - keep a small spray bottle of water close at hand - give a little spritz and you'll be nice and slippery all over again!

I got mine at Safeway. It's in a blue oval-shaped bottle and it's called "Wet". Love it!

The OP got me googling, here's one resource to look over:  http://sexuality.about.com/od/personallubricantreviews/Personal_Lubricant_Product_Reviews.htm

I'm also big on getting samples and miniature sizes to test run new options. :)

The Wet Platinum is even better, and is carried at many drug stores.

Butter, or olive oil (it's better for you). Otherwise, spit, but that takes serious work.

msprudence -> RE: lubrication recommendations (8/7/2008 9:53:22 AM)

I actually put out two bowls during a session now:  one of lube, one of massage oil

Now I'd just love to find someone who sells this stuff by the gallon.

~FR~

I use "Pink" which is a silicone based lubricant. I got it at the Smitten Kitten. (www.SmittenKittenOnline.com)

It may not be a gallon but, Eros Pjur does come in a whopping 34oz size!

soul2share -> RE: lubrication recommendations (8/7/2008 2:30:43 PM)

I have used both water and silicone based lubes...I prefer the silicone based because it doesn't gum up like KY.  I had some of the Eros pjur and the thicker one for anal use.  Even when the dom has gotten a little over-exuberant with it's use, (a little dab'll do ya!), it doesn't leave me feeling all icky, like I have to run off and shower NOW!  It was pretty expensive, $25 bucks for like an 8 oz bottle, but I bought them over a year ago, and am still working on the one bottle left.  Not sure which one it is, cuz the label came off, but it's good stuff!

HandSolo -> RE: lubrication recommendations (8/8/2008 8:19:21 AM)

Anybody trying to make body parts slippery, with the intention to facilitate penetration, should look up J Lube. It's intended for veterinary obstetrics, very cheap per dosage, unbelievably effective, and water soluble. It's sold as a powder, you just dampen a little bit of it (you know the old saying 'you can never have too much lube?' You actually can.), go to town, and once done, rinse clean. A bit of salt breaks it down faster, but I don't generally need to use anything but a shower. If things get a little sticky, a drop of water will restore everything.

Remarkable stuff. I got the 10 oz bottle at least two years ago, I'm not quite 1/4 through it.

I just found a spiffy FAQ.
