Though the protest of about 1,000 people chanting "freedom!" was small compared to past marches, there is a growing public outcry over the sidelining of key government opponents ahead of state and local elections in November.

Chavez opponents also are outraged by 26 laws the president just decreed, some of them mirroring the socialist measures voters rejected in a December referendum.

What I am saying is OK, he is not the best thing since the invention of the lightbulb. But I am not buying into any opinion untill I see what the international media says about it. We only hear one side here.

He might not get along with the Bush regime, but that doesn't mean he's not as big an asshole.

Status: offline 		      How long did Idi Amin get a free pass in much of the world press, Termy?  Chavez called Bush "the Devil" from the UN podium.  That buys you a lot of brownie points with the left.

Chavez does not stand for democracy, he stands for a centralized government that runs everything, you know socialism. There are some here in the US that would like to lean closer to the government running many things. Chavez is also anti Bush, so the saying about the enemy of your enemy is your friend, comes to mind.

It is outside our borders and should not be the US's concern.

I`d say Bush was 'antier'-democratic of the two.
