... for a face in a photo in someone's profile ? I mean not just liked it - not just thought they were attractive to you - or were in some provocative pose that drew a second or third look - but that the way they're looking out at you from the photo seems to burn right into who you are . Both compelling and disturbing in the intensity - you just want them - in every possible way - no rhyme or reason to it . I ask , because this happened to me today . I won't mention who it is - 'cause their head may swell beyond all reason , and I've no idea what will come of all this . I just know I'm having trouble keeping away from looking again and again ... And yes - we have made contact briefly , so far. Ever happened to you ? Did what you were feeling initially turn out to be an accurate assessment ? Did you end up meeting that person ? Or more ? ? I'm not asking so as to try and predict what will happen with me - but just because I'm a diehard romantic , and want to see if things like this truly occur on this site in particular . [:)]

Not I. I've always believed look's were skin deep. So I don't put much emphasis on them. Now words on the other hand. Yes.

I understand what you are talking about, the first time I saw Sir's photo, it took my breath away. He had contacted me and asked me to view his profile. Then the first time I heard His voice, I was a goner. very very rarely. there have been photos that have made me notice someone but there have been very few that i've gotten that intense of a reaction to.

When i first saw my husband, i knew he was right, but not just yet ... three years later on a May weekend we had our first date, he proposed in the August, we were married for 17 years, delivered two children, one of each. We divorced 2000 now i have nothing to say to him ... not because i don't want to ... we just have nothing to talk about ... we have gone in spectacularly different directions ... i'm looking to fall again and grow together, but the thing is that positive stuff that you go through, regardless of where it goes with this 'other' person ... enjoy it relish it ... i too am a hopeless romantic, a little cynical, yet a romantic just the same...

I did that with Angel's photo. For no explainable reason, I just kept going back to it. I told myself when I saw it "I'd love to have that." Granted that was well before we actualy spoke. With Fox, it was talk first, photo later. His adorable orange headed first photo was definately not magnetic, but it was defiantely endearing. DV

Once, ages ago. Someone half way around the world who's photo stopped Me in my tracks. I commented, we chatted, now were facebook buddies.

Yup...he was the reason I joined this site. Met him finally months and months after we started emailing. No chemistry at all unfortunately. One meet only and we both moved on.

The best part is when they see your photo and feel the same way. It happened to me but not here on CM so it's a little different. We were in the same channel on IRC and began chatting in a private window and traded photos a few minutes into that discussion. That was over two and a half years ago and we're still going strong.

Actually yes, but I didn't believe it was really her. It was years ago on another lame site that has a chat room I used to practically live in for a few months. The site is quite well known for having ALOT of troll profiles with alot of "someone else" photos. I was an utter bitch to her and yet she was persistant. Quite alot of time passed and I found out, in person, she really was the woman she said she was. She is one of the two women I have ever been madly in love with. Our time together was....indescribably amazing. I miss her. If she was still alive I cannot imagine being anywhere else, other than, with her.

Yep. Just this spring, most recently, but I have had that happen more than once. He was the one that wrote to me, and one look at his picture was a DING in my head. It didn't work out, for a variety of reasons, but I still go back to look at his picture, and wonder how these instant connections happen.

Normally I don't even want to see someone's pic at first because I don't want it to influence me either way, but there was a man on this site a few years back who I fell for (temporarily) based on his photo. He was an older man, a thick head of salt and pepper hair, a goatee, wearing sweats with cut-off sleeves, and a pair sneakers, he had gorgeous arms with nice muscle definition, and a look in his eyes that froze me in my tracks. Although he was a very good looking man, it wasn't about his looks as much as it was about his look. He had such a dominant look about him. The look on his face, the position of his body etc. I sent him an email and started talking with him a bit, and eventually we spoke on the phone. He was a fun and entertaining character, but his personality was just totally whacked. He would go off on these political tangents, and he would go into this weird laugh when he was talking about something serious....sort of the way psychos laugh before they kill someone---very Jack Nicholson-esque in the Shining. It didn't take long for me to realize that he wasn't my type. He shared more photos with me, all of which I still have and occasionally look at just because he looks that hot.

I never really noticed Lumus' pictures because we met on the forums and were chatting back and forth on several threads before I ever got the nerve to look at his profile. But then there was some joking around on a thread about sending out pictures and even though I was the new kid on CM at the time, I took a deep breath and joked around that I'd like his pictures too. He sent me some and my heart has never been the same. I just didn't know it at the time. One of his pictures has now been dubbed the "OMFG" picture because it stopped me in my tracks. [:D] And in all honesty, I never thought we'd be more than friends, I would have sworn he was too good looking for me, once I saw his pictures. (Sometimes I still sigh in happiness and amazement though...)

A few times, yes. One is a regular here and we exchange a brief email every now and then. A couple didn't click personality-wise, for either of us. One I just admire from afar, but I'm not telling....
