I'm a little early, but I'm wanting to get someone very dear to me a chess set for Christmas. Not the walmart special either. Thought of having something carved on the bottom too..maybe something from my heart. My problem is, where do I find a place to do this and keep it under 200?

bearing in mind that i know NOTHING about chess and am just going upon my mad searching skillz...

http://www.customchess.com/ is pretty awesome...their prices seem to go from about $200 to much higher, but they do have some lower end options.

http://www.differentthoughts.com/chessset.htm this isn't as nice but you can personalize the box for the set.

Chess is a great game to play! Its a lot easier than most people think. Its just we play online and I want to give him a good chess set, so we can in person when we are together. :) thanks again

Where do you play online? I've been looking for something like that. I suck at chess, but I like playing. :) I even have an unused chess set. *sigh* No one here to play with...chess that is.

www.pogo.com has online games, including chess.

Yahoo has chess and just about every other traditional board game as well. I play chess and go over there occasionally.

Any chance you or a friend will be going to Mexico soon? They have lovely hand carved onyx chess sets very reasonable, everywhere.

I Googled engraved chess set and the information found was extensive. There are so many varieties of pieces, and board types. Most of the prices of the sets I looked at were well within your budget.

We play on yahoo messenger at times while we chat. I think I'm going to get a cheap 5 dollar set for this weekend though.

Sadly, I don't think so.

I 've looked on Ebay, it shows some promise thats for sure.

I wish I wasn't moving around Christmas or I'd be able to get him something better. *sigh*
