Studies regarding sexuality, be it kinky or otherwise, have a built in flaw that they tend to only have accurate data regarding those that are out, proud and open about their sexuality. So what you've basically got is "We know about the amount of out homosexuals". That does not include those who in "ex-gay" therapy, bisexuals who have chosen to stay in heterosexual relationships or are simply buried in the closet. Studying BDSM is also difficult as one has to find their samples, try to make a diverse and accurate sample (are we only going to include hard-core bondage or is playing with handcuffs once a week ok?) and you still have the problem that most of your sample is going to be the population that is "out". However, I would be very interested to see where you got such definate numbers and what kind of study was done to obtain them - along with who did the study.
