littlesarbonn -> Finding bdsm when not even looking for it (7/31/2008 9:33:54 AM)

Some time ago, I was playing this computer game called Rome (or something like that...not the current game that's a war simulation game, but a game that was actually about the lifestyle of Rome). Anyway, the main character starts out as a slave who gains his freedom and then competes to become a leader of Rome. Well, I was having trouble with the beginning of the game (couldn't figure out how to get a towel for the "master" or whatever), so I finally gave up and called software support, figuring that everyone must be having this same problem cause it just didn't make any sense.

So, I got customer support pretty fast, and it was a nice pleasant woman who asked me what the problem was. I explained where I was in the game, and then she said (obviously reading from a customer service card): "Okay, to start out, you're a slave." She said it quite bluntly, and my immediate response was, "um, okay. I'm a slave."

There was a bit of a chuckle on the other end before she said in a very "interesting" voice. "Now, the goal of the game is rise above this, so you're going to have to actually want to do that."

She kind of pegged me right then and there, so I just pretended not to understand the connection. I said I was having trouble finding the towel. She responded. "Well, it's not like you're going to be punished or anything if you don't find the towel."

Right about then and there I started to wonder if this phone call had actually started with the numbers 900, or 976, but checked the numbers dialed, and yes, it was still product support. Anyway, she kind of played around a bit like this before she came around and told me how to find the item I was looking for. Her last line from the conversation was something along the lines of: "Remember, not everyone gets to be a leader of Rome. Some of you remain slaves for life."

I told my bdsm friends about this, and suddenly everyone of them were having "difficulties" finding the towel and "needing" to call customer support. I don't think any of them actually got the person I did, so I believe my experience may have been unique.

Anyway, not a story complaining about anything, which seems to be the norm here. Just thought I'd share it with you all.

Personally, I enjoyed the story quite a bit.  It's amazing when these cute little things happen.  Thanks for sharing, littlesarbonn.

I had difficulties finding my Owner's black sheet for pictures one night because I asked her where it was at and she said, "It's in the crock pot."

Now, obviously I heard it wrong.  Still, when it comes to my hearing(which is relatively bad sometimes) I get very stubborn and I convince myself I heard things the -right- way...even if it doesn't make any sense.  So, I walked into the kitchen and started looking for the crock pot.

My Owner comes in...looks a touch confused...and asks me what exactly I'm doing.

"I'm looking for the crock pot so I can find the sheet.  That's what you said."

She started laughing uncontrollably.  I did to, because it was just so funny.  Finally, we were both just laughing our heads off laying on the bed and she said

"No, I said It's in the closet."

You can sort of see how my hearing and my mind messed that one up. :-p

So yes, I can understand how it would be hard for a Roman slave to find a towel.

I wasn't looking and had never heard of BDSM when i was playing a game on pogo and my opponent asked me if i liked to be dominated. My reply was that i liked the guy to be in charge and the next thing i knew i was his sub online for 2 years until i took it to r/l with another.  What i didn't realize was the Hubby had been dominating me outside the bedroom for 34 yrs back then and i didn't have a name for it, thought i was just being a "good" wife. We later took it to the bedroom too.[:)]

That story was awesome! I get told I sound 13 on the phone so I don't know if I'll ever have interesting customer service (he. service. Support? Less fun...) calls THAT interesting.

That must have been a fun phone call!  There are so many times, especially lately, when I wish I could be more open about my position.  Sometimes the closest I can come is to say that my Master is my best friend; that's so far short of the whole of our relationship.  The one family member of His that does know keeps telling me that when I get a task I should just tell Him to go pee up a tree.  I just smile and say, "you don't understand submission very well yet".

Fox,
Your story had me laughing and remembering a time my mother sent my father out to the garage to get a suitcase for her (as she was getting ready to go on a trip) and he came back in with a cheesecake.

Sometimes, it's those moments when we don't hear very well that lead to the best stories and shared laughter later on in life.

Funny story, littlesarbonn! (and Fox - crock pot LOL)

Today I had a hysterical fit of laughter at work.  Understand, I do insurance billing, and some of it is electronic.  I notice the page says at the top, all big "ELECTRONIC SUBMISSION"  and I enter my claim info, then hit the button that says "SUBMIT NOW". Over and over and over..   then I move onto my resubmissions and the button that says "RESUBMIT".   Hrmm.. someone's trying to tell me something.. ?

When Fox was looking for the black sheet. It was in the closet in the PROP BOX. He swore I said Crock pot, and didnt want to look foolish for not finding it. And when I asked him what he was thinking his response was "I dont question where you keep things, you have a strange enough sense of organization, you might just keep something in the crock pot. I never know."
