Doesn't matter in the least. The really interesting thing is that the independant candidates are siphoning off candidates from the GOP side. Some estimates as high as 18% of voting republicans are so dissatisfied with McCain that they would apparently vote for someone with no chance at all, than lend their support to him.

I was worried about Nader pulling yet another screw job on the Dems, but this time, the sucking sound seems to be coming from the GOP's side.

I think it's a good thing that people actually vote for CANDIDATES rather than just party affiliation.

Despite all the foofaraw, I expect most Dems to vote Obama, and Reps to vote McCain. The big questions in my mind are how many party loyalists will stay home and not vote due to low enthusiasm, and who can grab the lion's share of the independent/unaffiliated voters.

I saw something interesting today, that is kind of bewildering to me. General polls show that Dems are leading Repubs by 15% to 20%, yet Obama is leading by around 4% and even behind in polls of likely voters. The difference is puzzling to me, I mean even Carter had a 30% lead at this time in the year.

Just something that made me curious,

I'm beginning to wonder if, in this day and age of media multinationals, if polls can be trusted any more. Just looking at the job they did during the primary run offs makes me leery of trusting them during the main race.

Their accuracy was "iffy" at best... but now with slanted reporting, and loaded questions, and samplings that seem to be taken at single events within one demographic, it just seems the results have becom meaningless.

Doesn't matter, I suppose. I know which candidates (presidential and house) seem to best conform to my needs and beliefs. I could care less what the pollsters and the pundits have to say in the matter.
